i believe you will find that the ground wire for all the doors is broken you can check it by removing the rubber bellows in the driver door jam that is where it usually breaks its the thick black wire, repair it by installing two thinner wires in between so it has more flex, and it wont break again.

WhAT MAKES FORD 2003 EXPEDITION SHUT OFF AND SMOKE FROM FUSE PANEL

TUrn off your vehicle; first I suggest check in the fuse panel what fuse is causing this problem, if the fuses ar ok, then you will need to take off the entire fuse panel to check harnesses connections and wires attached there.

Keep in mind that, if you stay driving or testing in a ON condition, cpould damage other components, systems or devices.

Hope this helps.

It turns over but will not start people have looked at it have thought altenator, or battery, or fuel pump...just don;t know

not alternator or battery, maybe fuel pump. You will need to troubleshoot--are you willing?

My 2002 chevrolet 2500hd 4 wheel drive will not engage. Light does not come on. Worked last winter. Transmission was rebuilt last summer. After about a month, I heard a loud kerplunk. It was real cold here...

I would check the wire harnesses for damage (pinching, cuts and such) from the transfer case. There may be damage from the trans install. Also fuse panels both under hood and interior. Since no lights are on it is probably a fuse or the harness is disconnected.

i am going to start out by saying that I want to be optimistic, and hope that this is not the problem with your car, Only because it is a little expensive to fix.

Is the wire harness for the engine original, or has it already been replace
if its original, this may sound crazy unless you already know that MB has a big problem with the wires under the hood.
They start to crumble leaving the wires bare in places to short together and cause all kinds of crazy things.
Your car is at the perfct age to start experiancing this problem.
Unfortunetly the best way to cure this is to replace the harness.
A harness costs about $900 new, plus labor.
To inspect the harness I unwrap the wires in places on top of the engine by the injectors, and for the ignition coils and a few other places, I then bend the wires around a little, and look for cracking or crumbling.
To replace the harness is acually easier than it looks. it takes one to two hours, even less if you done one before.
I am not MB, only mechanic, and I have seen several with the harness problem.

Good luck I hope this info helps.

check your computer under the hood and make sure none of those fuses are blown. Also, can the vehicle be jump started. I have a 2000 expedition that did that and a fuse was blown under the hood.
