I just fixed this exact problem in my 06 H3. It turned out to be the resistor pack in the blower motor. I had to replace the resistor(it shorted) and the small harness that spiders over the blower motor assembly(it melted). It was an easy fix and only about $50 in parts that you can order form any GM brand dealership. Check out the link and and look at parts #3 and #4. Good luck!
If the fan does not blow, yes check the fuse first,if it is ok,then remove the wire plug off the blower motor and check for voltage at the plug,if power is present the blower moter is probably bad.One more thing check for power going into the blower switch sometimes they go bad.the actualy burn out causing a open .
This issue is very common. Seems like it should be a recall. I am no rocket scientist but melting plastic and wires should not be a common problem. i urge everyone with this problem to report it to nhsta.
Solution #1, you are exactly right. The wiring harness melted to the resistor.....Ordered both parts from the link you provided and we are back in business. Thanks....

Awesome! The harness fixed my problem! Repair shop wanted to charge me close to $500 to replace motor, harness, and resistor. What a joke!
My problem was same as above. My connection has a hook shaped pin running through it that needed to be removed before prying it apart. One side of the connector (side opposite of orange wire) will have a tiny white point of this hook shaped pin. You can use an un-bent paperclip to push this pin through and then it can be pulled out by the hook shaped end.
I fixed my connection by removing the burned plastic section of the connector with some side cutters and pressed on a new blade connector. That way It's a 10cent fix. I figure if GM can't replace it and guarantee it won't happen again, I'll take my 10cent McGyver fix and see how long it last. The resistor pack was undamaged, just browned from heat. Thanks to all in this Fixya forum for the help. You guys totally rock posting this.
No this is a problem that gm needs to address , 95% of this problem is coming from blower motor resistor and the connection is over heating and failing ..check your resistor if you see burnt wires that is the problem....but if wires are not burnt and you cant get connection apart , then the wires are burnt inside of the connection , try pulling the trasistor apart from the blower motor..one small tab holds them on if it comes right off check for burn marks insidethe connector..if it doesnt come right off it is melted together from over heat
Identical problem here on my H3T 2009. Only when removing the connector from the resistor pack, there is also a white pin running through the connector. The end of it protrudes though one side as a small white toothpick sized end. push it through with a paperclip and pull it out. it will have a hook on the other end. Then you can lift the large tab running down the center of the connector and pull it apart. I cut the bad section off of the factory connector and pressed a blade connector onto the resistor pack and fixed mine for 10 cents and labor. the resistor pack was undamaged. Connector was fried. We'll see how long it lasts.
