Gasket = $35 (permatex rubber)
Labor - my manual says 3 hours.
You'll have to be responsible for figuring out the labor price per hour depending on where you are located.
In MI, a garage is about $50/hr, and dealership = $85/hr
CA might be $95/$150/hr.
Parts are minimal on the job - its all labor.
Figure in about $20 for shop supplies... gasket remover, sealant, rags, etc.

SOURCE: need to change alternator
ok no problem. first off unhook the possitive on the battery. then find the belt tensioner. there should be a sqaure hole in it for a rachet to go into. use the rachet(usually the 3/8's drive)to move the tensioner to where you can slip the belt off the alternator. then remove the nut off the back of the alternator to take the hot wire off. Then there is a plug on the back of the alternator. unplug it. next take the three bolts out of it and remove it. then put the new one on and repeat steps in reverse. If you have problems with how the belt goes back on then look around the engine bay. usually there will be a sticker with how it goes.
SOURCE: how do i change the sparkpulgs in my 1998 chevy
The plugs can be accessed by removing the front wheels and lifting up the flexible rubber splash shields on inner fender. All plugs are easily accessible with the exception of the #3 plug ( driver's side , center). Unfortunately the steering shaft is located right directly in front of this plug. Some people disconnect the steering shaft and move it aside to reach the plug but I have been able to remove the spark plug by placing the spark plug socket over the plug and then using an open end wrench or ratcheting box wrench over the hex of the spark plug socket.
Guaranteed, this # 3 plug will take as much time as the other 5 plugs combined. Good luck!
