I own a 2002 Saturn Vue. last night my battery went dead whenever I would turn my headlights on. the daytime running lights aren't even working, and my battery is dead. What would cause this problem?

Yep, sounds like an alternator issue. If you get the car running on a charged battery, disconnect the battery. If the car immediately dies- the car isn't getting any power from the alternator.

First off have it tested , so your sure . Auto part stores will do that for free an show what all is involved in replacing it . Sometimes alternators are at hard to get to spots ! Can give experienced mechanic's fit's .

With automotive electrical systems anything is possible . Do you know how to use a Volt meter ? Test the heavy gage wire on the back of the alternator , should have B+ voltage . Is the charge indicator ,battery light lit on the instrument cluster while the engine is running ? check the battery connections are clean and TIGHT as a loose battery connection would cause these symptoms , check the earth for corrosion etc as well

1998 Lumina lights don't work at night!The lights work during the day but not at night. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Theres a sensor in the middle of the dash by the front windshield that detects sunlight and triggers the automatic headlights. The main headlights and daytime running lights might be on a different circuit, in which case they daytime running lamps would turn off at night and the main headlights would turn on, indicating the main headlights arent working and the daytime running lamps are working as intended.

I would check all the fuses related to headlights, check the bulbs and check the switch, then last the light sensor on the dash.

My 2006 Saturn Vue headlights come on during wet weather and the keys are not even in the ignition and the engine is not running. Pop on in the middle of the night until the battery is dead!

Well I have a 1998 GMC Suburban SLT that has a problem I have to jumpstart twice a day or whenever i shut the car off I replaced all the wireing (except the battery cables) got a new altanator and new fuse...

Simply put it sounds like you have something draining the battery, the daytime running lights came out way before 2001. I have a 98 and there are daytime running lights on mine. When the vehicle is running there should be a green light in your cluster in the top left corner, that comes on whenever you start the truck. that signal also will shut off when you actually turn your headlights on. if there are any accessories plugged in or running live, lights, amp/subs, xm radio, car charger for a cell phone. Anything like this could be draining the battery, along with interior light left on. Check everything make sure all is either unplugged, disconnected, or turned off. That should about solve the problem... hopefully. Good Luck!

You may have a problem with the daytime headlight relay, or a headlight swith malfunction.

I am having the exact same problem on my 2001 Saturn SL1. I went to Murray's Auto Parts Store in MI and it was 140.00!! for the switch. I'm interested in finding out what you did and if there is any cheap way to fix this.

Saturn 2002 VUE Turn Signal not working properly.

You need to check your left side turn/park lamp bulbs for correct part # & installation.If that checks out you deffinetely have a ground problem.When you have other lights blinking with you turn signals you have either a bulb incorrect or a bad/poor ground.If bulbs check out check your forward lamp harness ground.Hope this helps

Headlights turn on when car is parked

I know that Saturn is made by GM. I own an '02 Blazer, and I have to bypass the automatic headlights by either setting the e-brake, or by pushing my "Dome Override" button 4 times. Given the fact that your vehicle is a few years newer and a Saturn rather than a Chevrolet, chances are that the process to disable this feature (or annoyance rather...lol) is probably different. Try scrolling through your users manual and looking for a section labeled "Daytime Driving Lamps" or "Automatic Head Lamps". Some vehicles, such as Impala's and Malibu's as well as some of the Buick's will not allow you to disable this feature. However, if it CAN be disabled, it will be described somewhere in the manual.

Take it back to the dealer and advise them you want it fixed. It sounds like the timer switch for the headlights. the dealer should fix this for free.

2002grand am daytime running lights

99 - 04 grand am.

I had the "service vehicle soon" light come twice with in 1 year. First the heald light bulbs were gone. Replaced the head light bulbs and after 2 starts the "service vehicle soon" light was gone.

The second time the DRL - #194 amber bulbs were gone. Replaced these and the "service vehicle soon" light was gone after 2 starts. The DRLs are housed in the headlamp housing, the tiny bulbs beside the head light.
