Get a tube of lock cylinder lube from the hardware store and spray it inside the lock cylinder that may cure the problem. Only use the dry powdered Graphite lock lube, never WD40 or Silicone

The remote device has a battery in it with a number on it (there is a slot on the case that can be used to pry it open). These are used in many similar devices, and are not hard to find in stores. Your owners manual might have a picture to show you how to do this.
Maybe the ignition switch burned up. A lot of juice travels through them and it has happened.
What is confusing is, lights will work without the switch. You should be able to turn lights on without the key in the ignition. But a radio normally needs the ignition turned to ACC (accessory) or ON. And some when left on don't turn off with the key off until the door is opened.
Possibly the ignition melted and is affected to where the radio still gets power as if it was in the ACC position
is it a factory or aftermarket remote if it is aftermarked try turning the key five times from acc to on then hold down the lock button for 2 secs and if it works the pakin lights will flash
