EML, Check Engine, Limp Mode

What does it mean if the car goes into limp mode, the EML light comes on and the Check Engine light also comes on? It's a 2000 BMW 330i. I turned the car off and then restarted it and drove it home.

What is limp mode, and it is MiL light( mal function indicator light)it is not EML. Please specify so i can help

I have the same problem with my car 316 compact.. eml light on only ticks to 2000 rmp. untill yu restart the car..

Check trans fluid. if is low eml light is on

Engine management light reset
The car is trying to tell you something - limp mode is there to protect the engine if a serious problem is detected. Stop driving it and get someone out to scan the codes and diagnose this.

What does it mean if the car EML light comes on and the Engine DONT GOT NO POWER
THe engine light si coming on because the CPU has found sensore that are outside set parameters (faulty) and the CPU sends the engine ,management system into limp home mode . That is why there is no power. Check oil level / water level in the radiator and temperature.

BMW (e39 1999) eml and asc lights and in limp mode
Check the ABS brake sensors in your wheels, if they are not functioning properly. It will trigger the computer to engage the ASC auto stability control light as the asc uses the brakes to assist in control. I will also engage the EML engine management light to slow the rev point to limp mode

Eml and diagnostic problems
As for the limp mode unless you have an expensive diagnostic system this usually has to be done by BMW (anything to get ya to a dealership!!). The comms problem, is the key turned in the ignition?

Code 24 is a vehicle speed signal sensor fault, the sensor most likely does not provide a useable signal until about 25 MPH, when the computer doesn't see any signal after that speed it turns on the light. Make sense?
