Looking at the engine your number 1 cylinder is the front right, number 2 is front left. The right side is 1-3-5-7, the left is 2-4-6-8. As for the number 1 on the distributor it is at the 5 o'clock position (there should be a number 1 or a long dash by that spark plug wire). Firing order is clockwise 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

Number 1 is the closest to the radiator on the right (drivers side) when standing in the front. next to that one is no.3 and 5 then 7. no. 2 is closest to the radiator on the left, then 4,6,8. 8 being farthest from the radiator. .. just follow the wires to the distributor...if the wires are not there. u will have to get a manual.

How do i crank an 305 engine thats not in the car

preferably put engine on a stand, with flywheel on and starter motor installed. take a battery and a pair of jumper cables and hook the positive end to the big terminal on starter and a small wire to small terminal thats toward block. then touch small wire to battery positve to engage starter, engine should crank over.

I need the spark plug wiring diagram for a 1994 caprice classic 305

firing order of a small block chevy engine is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, clockwise-#1 on the front driver side (1,3,5,7 on driver sied, 2,4,6,8 on passenger side)-#1 should be about the 7 o'clock position, but to be certain, rotate the crank (loclkwise) until the 0 degree mark on the balancer lines up with the scale-look at the installed rotor-it is either pointed at the 7 o'clock position or the o'clock position-with the plug in #1 removed, rotate it again to see if the cylinder pushes air (compression)-that is where #1 plug wire belongs. just plug them in in order (18436572)-you will still have to time it to start, they usually need to be set a few degrees before top dead center.

I am taking a 305 engine out of 1991 caprice and putting it in a 1987 caprice, what kind a fuel pump will I need

Make sure all peripherals are equipped as the 305 was - so you'll want a pump that flows the same rate as the 305 from the 91. If the 87 has a similar sized engine, the OEM pump should be fine.

How to put the 305 engine inside of the 1987 caprice

The 305 will fit right in there, if you already have a v-8 in the car, if the car is a 6 cylinder car you will need to change the exhaust, the radiator, and reposition the motor mounts on the frame. This sounds difficult, but since this car was built with a v8 in it you should be able to find all the parts you need in a salvage yard.
