you should be more worried about suspension damage that is cause by not having the full suspension travel available as designed by the engineers
it may look cool to have a lowered car but if the back is down and the front normal --the steering geometry is all wrong and tyres wear out quickly, vehicle stability is affected and the headlights shine directly into the eyes of oncoming drivers even on low beam

Air suspension

Probably not. If you did the compressor would likely pump it back up again. There may be a shrader valve on the pump that you could use to drop the line pressure, and then unplug the compressor.
My guess would be a faulty height sensor.

Having it hooked up to a factory scan tool would be your best bet . Check for DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes . Without testing ,code scan ,we'd only be guessing .
Very complex , the untrained person hasn't got a pray of fixing this . You have no idea what your dealing with . Vehicle Dynamic Suspension The vehicle dynamic suspension consists of the following components:
  • Rear air suspension control (RAS) module (5A919)
  • Snorkel

  • Air suspension switch (5K761)

  • Air spring (5560)
  • Air suspension height sensor (5359)

  • Rear Air Suspension Control Module
    A microprocessor controls the air suspension system. The microprocessor and its supporting hardware are contained in the rear air suspension control module. The rear air suspension control module responds to signals from various sensors in the vehicle to maintain the programmed ride height while the vehicle is either moving or stopped. The rear air suspension control module accomplishes this by opening and closing solenoid valves to control the amount of air in the air spring(s). The rear air suspension control module turns on the compressor by applying voltage through the compressor relay to inflate the air spring(s) and raise the vehicle. The rear air suspension control module opens the vent solenoid to lower the vehicle by releasing air from the air spring(s) in response to signal inputs from the air suspension height sensor(s).

Supercede:

This bulletin is being revised to update the labor operation in the warranty information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-03-09-006A (Section 03 - Suspension).

Condition

Some customers may comment on the rear suspension being uneven or sagging.

Correction

DO NOT REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR.

Based on technician feedback, engineering has determined that the customer's concern can be corrected by recalibrating the air spring sensor. Refer to the Trim Height Uneven or Low diagnostics and Air Spring Sensor Calibration procedure found in SI.

Air compressor works...rear suspension low...just used air compressor to fill tire a few weeks ago...could this be related? We had never used it in over 8 years...

The air suspension has absolutely nothing to do with your tire pressures. If your rear suspension is low and you can hear the compressor running all the time, it is because you have a leak in your suspension system. You need to get it diagnosed and repaired as soon as possible. If you let it continue, it will burn-up your compressor, then it will be REALY EXPENSIVE to fix.

Low rear suspension on my 1999 Cadillac DeVille

Do you hear your compressor running? It may be that it is getting tired and ready to burn out on you. I replaced the compressor twice on my Deville before I found that there were so many holes and nicks in the air bags and it was going to cost me almost $1500 to fix the whole system. I went online and found Strutmasters. I got a non air conversion kit for my car and love it. Saved me money and headache.

Common failure is the air compressor relay,But in some rare cases the relay will fail due to the faulty air compressor.You may wanna have a shop diagnose the issue before you replace any parts.

Rear air suspension

the air suppension has a lever on the rear axel
will want to check the lever and the sensor and make sure it hasnt come loose or bent and yes its adjustable. if it doesnt adjust you might have a bad sensor or air leak
