Use a suction gun and then rags and then brake clean. Flush the entire system any PS fluid that gets to the wheel cylinders will most likely destroy them. The master cylinder is most likely already toast.

SOURCE: 1992 YJ clutch fluid disapears.

It's probably your slave cylinder. On my '89 it was located in the clutch housing. You have to take the tranny off to get access to it. This is probably why the fluid is "disappearing." I'd suggest changing the clutch while you're at. They sell kits for this at auto parts stores.

SOURCE: 1999 Subaru Brake problem-master cylinder/power booster?

Hi there. If you have determined that the brake system doesnt have any leaks in the lines or at the calipers or brake cylinders, I would start by checking for vaccum to the brake booster first. There should be a large vaccum hose going from the power booster down to the top back of the engine. If this got unhooked or broken, your brakes will feel like old manual brakes rather than power. Make sure you have good suction by unhooking one end of this line with the engine running and place your hand over it to see if it has suction. GT would be the sporty version of the car and usualy has an emblem either on the fender or rear bumper saying GT. If you dont see this you probably have the L series.

SOURCE: leeking master cylinder vw trasporter t4 2001

Hi,

The leak is only a symtom the real problem is the pedal box! it will have broken!

put your head in the footwell, press the pedal by hand while watching the master cylinder.

If you can see ANY movement of the master cylinder then the mounting has failed!

Hope that helps

Flush Brake Fluids and Power Steering Fluids Economically

Many vehicle maintenance schedules require flushing of BRAKE FLUIDS, as well as HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING FLUIDS. An inexpensive way to do this yourself is to go out, and buy 2 TURKEY BASTERS. Mark each separately, one P/S and one Brake Fluid. DO NOT INTERCHANGE. As per maintenance schedule, siphon brake fluids from MASTER CYLINDER, ( recycle properly ) and replenish with fresh , clean fluids, Do the same with the power steering fluid in the pump. Of course you won't be removing all of the fluids, but a sufficient amount will be replaced. You can do it 2x after running if so inclined.

Can't get the back brakes to bleed on a 1993 Cadillac Eldorado

they make a tool that keeps the brake proportioning valve open for bleeding them a safety feature to stop fluid in case a line breaks. but a reverse bleed can be done take a 2 ounce syringe fill with brake fluid and open bleeder screw and force fluid back to master cylinder and have someone watch to see air is coming out possibly 2 shootings per side should work.

Bleed power steering/brake unit 2002 GMC Sierra 3500

The slash that you placed between the words steering/brake have me concerned. I certainly hope you did not think that these two systems are co-joined? The power steering system is a hydraulic system completely separate and isolated from the brake system. They also use two completely different types of fluid. Putting brake fluid in the power steering system would destroy it just as putting power steering fluid in the brake master cylinder will destroy it. The type(s) of rubber used in the seals for each of these systems demands they use their own fluid. Any cross-contamination will require a complete draining, cleaning, and replacement of ALL rubber components and seals. This would include the power steering pump and rack for the power steering system, and for the brake system the master cylinder, all calipers and wheel cylinder as well as the proportioning valve. If there is an ABS unit, it will need serviced as well.

1992 ford 7.3 power steering pump is pushing fluid through the vent holes in the fill cap

It very well could be a brake master cylinder issue.
all of the 1 ton and up , 3/4 ton if diesel , have hydraulic vacuum assist brake masters. that run on the power steering pump, if one part of the system is malfunctioning , it could very well effect the part of the system.

I bought a a 94 cadillac eldorado and it haves 152,444 miles, what kind of maintenance do i need for it

I would change all fluids at that mileage including power steering, transmission, engine oil, brake, coolant, and other fluids to get a fresh start.

Also, change the belt if cracked or shows signs of wear.

Location of the brake fluid input

the brake fluid resivoir is above the master cylinder on the firewall. so on the left side near the windshield. the power steering resivoir is closer to the front end and is distinguished by not being connected to the master cylinder..
