You probably have a vacuum leak on the passenger side. its a small plastic hose some times they come unpluged from the engine. or brake.

SOURCE: Vent control

You have a vacuum leak.Defrost is the default postion(no vacuum).
See if you can locate the small black vacuum line that goes inside the vehicle on the passenger side near the heater core. The trace it back, should see it going to a canister then to the intake manifold.Make sure it is not disconnected or broken somewhere.

SOURCE: climate control system only blow air out defrost vent

there is a good chance that you blend air door is stuck closed over your heater core and therefore not allowing the heat to flow, also your door that opens and close your direction of flow from the floor ,das, vent and defrost.your going to have to remove the lower cowling of the dash on the passenger side analso some of the center dash to actually check to see if the cable, servo motors. are acuating the doors.the issue could be just a stuck door or a misaligned cable or that it came off. that falls under the mechanical side of probabilities. electrical would most likely be a faulty selector switch or a servo motor

SOURCE: driver's side air blowing warm, won't change

Sounds like there is a crack in the vent that leads to the drivers side, and hot air from the engine is leaking through.

1998 Dodge Stratus - Air conditioning is blowing through the defrost vents

Vacuum controls this circuit and leaks will cause blend air door to default to defrost. Check for bad check valve or hose leaks under hood first as these are the easy ones to get at and under hood heat causes deterioration.

I have a 2010 Equinox that only blows air out of the defrost vents. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Isn't air supposed to blow out of the defrost vents ? Otherwise, how is it supposed to defrost a window if it isn't turned on defrost. Does it blow air out when not on defrost ?

I have a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox LTZ and my question involves the heating/ AC unit. The air flow seems to be very strong through the Defroster but for the dash vents and the floor it seems to be much s

Defrost has been stronger on all types. Just the way plenums are made. Clear that wind shield first. As long as you have plenty of heat to keep the cabin area warm to hot, it's OK. I wouldn't woory about it.

06 equinox blowing cold air

First, recalibrate the air handler by the following procedure;
From the Equinox Service Manual
1. With the ignition on, simultaneously press the A/C and Recirc buttons, 3 times in less than 2 seconds
2. Verify that the A/C and Recirc LEDs are flashing, Wait 15 seconds for calibration to complete
3. After calibration is complete, press the A/C and Recirc buttons to verify proper LED tracking to function selected

If this does not correct the air handling issue, have the nearest dealership diagnose possible loose electrical connections , broken air dam doors, etc.

Best of luck.

When I turn my vent selector to defrost on the far right (air con off)the air conditioning comes on. The dash vents will blow ambient air, but defrost setting blows air con. Any ideas?

It's normal for the A/C compressor to come on with the defroster to dehumidify the air so the windsheild won't fog up under humid conditions. You can still control the air temp. out the vents with the temp. select switch.
