SOURCE: car just quit running while

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, please remove the positive battery connector. Let it sit for at least 30mins. then reconnect it. Start the car and observe how it goes. If it still fails, I suspect that there's a problem with the PCM (power train control module). If the PCM is faulty, the vehicle's current supply fails. If that's the case, the PCM must be replaced to resolve the problem.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Kia Sorento V-6 start-up difficulty

You probably should perform a fuel pressure test to see if the fuel pressure is bleeding off of the fuel rails when the engine is shut off. If it is, you could have a bad fuel pressure regulator or a bad check valve in the fuel pump module (which will require replacement of the module).

One way to test for this condition without any tools is like this:
cycle the key ON, wait about two seconds, then OFF, wait about 2 more seconds, and back ON again. Repeat his 3 or 4 times before turning the key to the CRANK position. If the engine starts immediately every time you do this, then the hard starting is definately caused by the fuel pressure bleeding off.

My Kia Sorento will start and then it won't start, replaced the fuel pump, but did not replace the fuel filter can this be the problem

When the fuel pump was replaced it is important that you install a new fuel filter as it is necessary to have a clean filtered fuel into the pump. Also check the injectors and the spark plugs.
If the spark intensity is low check the HT COILS and the ignition system triggers to the HT coils.
If spark is good then the fuel pressure and calibration must solve the issue.
Take help for consensus.
