I have a 2007 grand vitara ddis, for some time now after 40/50 miles i got a slight vibration when the engine was under load ie when changing up at low revs it only lasts for a few seconds
This morning i started it and there was a rattling noise followed shortly after by a screeching sound and vibration at the gearstick,in gear and neutral, after 30 secs it stopped.Any ideas please.

why would you do that. (if in usa its illegal and prove of tampering)
1: besides smog (NOX reduction) it does 2 other things.
2: it lowers exhaust valve temperatures, making them last and last.
3: it increase MPG, mileage. (can be proven easy with a simple test)
4: reduces PING, (detonation damage)
NOt only that, the ECU/PCM will fail the P04xx tests. and then not be able to inject or run spark advance correctly (see ping)
for what country , this is www forum. but if in USA? we have the fantastic, alldata dot com or mitchels !
Suzuki uses up to 53 different engines world wide. and many diff, diesels depending on your countries smog rules. post location, old post, but i do the unanswered.
Try to rev the engine while at neutral if you get the same vibration to pinpoint if its from the engine or the drive shafts. If the issue occurs at a certain rev it may likely be the variable valve unit. Check if possible if you can get errors from the computer.
For most all timing belts, the 100,000 mile marker is when the belt should be changed. The belts are designed to work for 100+ thousand miles, but recommended checking/changing is at 100K miles.
You can use an oil filter wrench or get a rubber handled wrench that you can open jar lids with and use that instead to turn counter-clockwise to remove. If stuck, jam a screwdriver through it and turn it.
if you google "grand vitara vibration" you will find a discussion board about the many many grand vitaras getting around with a vibration problem. I happen to be one of these people and am seriously thinking of selling the car after all the problems I have. It appears to be a drive train design fault which will cost a fortune to fix, believe me its not a tyre problem, ive had 4 wheel alignlents and balances and it never seems to fix the problem.Take it to a mechanic and let them have a good look at it.
