I've a 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander AWD and the driver door key hole inexplicably won't turn when the key is inserted and I try to turn it. I don't have a FOB and car hasn't since I bought it in 2009.

Thank you Winston - turns out it's all to do with freezing temperatures below 20 degrees farenheit and moisture which had found it's way in there before the temperature dropped. Passenger door lock still operates correctly in these temps; so it looks like there's a compromised moisture gasket, seal, strip, whatever somewhere on that door/window.

SOURCE: driver door won't lock with key fob

Check the locking solenoid / actuator in the door behind the panel, could be burned out or loose wire. It should take about 20-30 minutes to open, fix it and close the door panel if there's no major problem. Autozone might be able to help out with a solenoid.

SOURCE: mitsubishi outlander cooling fans not operating

There is a Recall to replace your cooling fan module because of this concern.

Open your hood and look at the black box bolted to your radiator fan by the battery. If it does not have a green dot on it, you have not had the replacement fan module installed.

Contact your local dealer with your VIN handy to verify the recall has not been done and to schedule an appointment.

If the recall has been done, verify if you have power coming out of the module to the fans, as the fans do burn out eventually.... but rarely both at once.

I have a 2001 C240 with the same issue. I removed the positive battery cable from the battery and kept it off for 30 seconds then replaced it. Everything was reset and the key worked.

2004 Mitsubishi Outlander. I replaced the battery but when I turned the key the radio AC lights all that came on but didnt start. I can hear the battery give off juice but the engine isnt budging.

Shut the hood and all the doors. Make sure they are closed and locked. Open the drivers door with the key to reset the security. It should start. If not lock it and open the passenger side with the key. Then replace the drivers side door latch on the door.

2004 Mitsubishi Outlander AWD, over heats when idle/stopped, cools down when driving. Added antifreeze 2 weeks ago, problem fixed until yesterday when started heating up again during idle, antifreeze...

Sounds like the electric fan is not coming on. Could be the switch screwed into the radiator, a malfunctioning fan relay, a blown fan fuse or the fan motor has gone bad.

1-insert and remove key from ignition two times

3-insert and remove key once from ign.

4-close and open drvr door twice

5-insert key into ign.,then close driver door

6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice this is rewrite mode, have all remotes to reprogram it will clear any lost remotes.

7-remove key from ignition, the door locks should cycle twice.if not start over.it may take a few tries.

8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second

9-release,and press lock on remote, the door locks will cycle confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have, steps 8 and 9.if only one in possession, you are done. To end mode open door or insert key into ignition.
