SOURCE: change oil pan gasket

This Is A Fairly SIMPLE Procedure The IMPORTANT Thing is To Use Generous Amount of Sealant and Allow Plenty of TIME for Sealant to CURE After Pan is On and Tightened Over Night At Liest

REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect negative cable from battery and remove engine oil dipstick.
  2. Raise vehicle on hoist and drain engine oil.
  3. Remove bending brace to transaxle attaching bolt.
  4. Remove bolts attaching dust cover to transaxle housing. Lower dust cover to gain access to oil pan bolts.
  5. Remove oil pan screws and remove oil pan.
INSTALLATION
  1. Clean surfaces and apply a 1/8 inch bead of Mopar(R) Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant or equivalent, at the parting line of the chain case cover and the rear seal retainer.
    1. Use a new pan gasket.
    2. Install pan and tighten screws to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.).
    3. Install dust shield and bending brace to transaxle housing.
    4. Lower vehicle and install oil dipstick.
    5. Connect negative cable to battery.
    6. Fill crankcase with oil to proper level.

I have a 2005 Saturn vue with the 2.2L engine. I have an oil leak from either the top or bottom pan. Can the lower pan be removed without removing the engine?

Definitely, assuming you're talking about the oil pan. Drain the oil, remove the pan bolts, remove old gasket and clean it. Reinstall oil pan with a new gasket and your done. Don't over tighten your pan bolts! They will snap, or damage your oil pan, especially if it's made of aluminum.

Is there anybody who knows answer to 04 Saturn vue oil pan question

if you look under the car you can see if the frame of the car goes under the oil pan then you know you have to either lift the motor or drop the frame and if you drop the frame you better support the motor in order to remove the frame

  • Remove the oil pan bolts from only the front and the sides.
  • Loosen the rear oil pan bolts about 4 turns.
  • Lightly tap the oil pan with a rubber mallet or pry in order to allow the fluid to drain.
  • Remove the remaining oil pan bolts.

Oil leaking into cooling system but no coolant in crankcase, also oil leaking from engine as it is all over frame and oil pan. engine starts and runs but heater does not get warm...??? 2003 saturn vue with...

Looks like a head gasket failure. Oil is escaping out of the engine and within the engine into the coolant passageways. The oil pressure system is run at higher pressure than the coolant pressure and fortunately this has so far kept the water from entering the oil and crankcase. I have no faith at all in any after-market product that claims it can repair leaks by simply adding it to the coolant or oil and taking a head off is not a trivial task. It may also be that the head has warped (this would also cause the leak) and this in turn will require it to be re-machined. Head gaskets are not expensive but due to the work involved this could be one occasion when a visit to a machine shop is the best option.

We have an engine oil leak that the Dealer says he needs to pull the engine to fix it - They estimate upto $ 3000 to fix it. Do you have any information about this.

your first mistake is going to a dealer to have work done. they always charge a buttload for work, to make up for lost revenue throughout the year.
but yes, replacing some gaskets can get costly. oil pan gaskets, head gaskets, main seals. and sometimes you need to remove the engine to fix it

How do i change the drive belt on a 2003 saturn vue v-6 L81

well its fairlly involved, you must remove the air intake and air box bottom, remove the engine mount, and place a jack under the oil pan with a piece of wood inbetween, otherwise youll crack the very thin oil pan and it will leak,, the remove the bracket on the side of the engine that the mount attached to and then using a 15mm socket pull on the tensioner and the belt will come off, then reassemble
