M engine light will not turn off

had same problem. i solved my problem by using gasoline with 10% ethenole. usually takes two or three tank fills. this cleaned my sensors and the engine light went out. my engine light was on for several years before i accidently tried this. if your sensors are failing the engine light will come on in some cases. the 10% ethenol cleaned my sensors and it turn the light off. i went back to cheap gas and after one tank, my engine light came back on. it took two tanks of gasoline with ethenol before the engine light went off. i use regular gasoline and buy it at an H.E.B. grocery store that has a filling station. try this first. the sensors are not cheap and you can still have use for the gasoline. good luck.

The motor missed fire an acceleretion . after the truck was stop over 1 mounth.(escape 2003)

I'll bet it misfires because of the old gasoline. Since it was sitting for that long, you should remove the old gasoline from the car and put in fresh gasoline. You might want to put in a can of seafoam in the gas tank as well to clean up anything the old gasoline could have left behind.

Next time, if you're planning to have your car sit for a few weeks or more, put fuel stabilizer (such as Seafoam) into the gas tank before you leave. That way, you can safely start it when you come back.

How to replace gas sending unit on 99 olds cutlass

First disconnect and remove the battery.
Then, remove gas cap to release pressure. Than remove fuel lines and drain gas into suitable container. Next, loosen the bolts (you can use a tranny jack or have someone else help hold tank and lower it down.
Now you will want to use a BRASS punch. (do NOT use metal or it will cause a spark)
Use brass punch and hammer and loosen nut on tank counter-clockwise to loosen sending unit.
Once nut is loose, pull out sending unit and unplug the wire harness.

Reverse procedure to reinstall

Between the fuel tank and the rear tires. Right in the center of the car. Pull the fuse for your fuel pump, run the car until it dies, loosen the fuel line on one end, then there is a clip at the other end take that off, and you done.
