2003 BMW 330CI convertible frt. passenger window does not retract

When opening the passenger side door, the fully up window does not retract the 1/4" or so (to allow gap so window does not hit convertible top when door is closed). When the door is open, the driver display indicates the door is open. The window works when lowered by window switch. Driver's door works fine.

I do not have a wiring diagram for the vehicle. I would assume that there is a switch to indicate that the window is fully up, that would, in combination with the door open indication, cause a control unit to drop the window the 1/4". I would think that, in this case, the switch that indicates window fully up, would be the most likely culprit with wiring and the control unit being other possibilities.

The problem is in the door lock and the assemble must be changed. when one looks in the catch which look the door you will see a white switch in the lock and this the defect. the switch is built in the lock.

That is more that one item causing that. You need a good auto-electrician with a scan tool computer or the dealership.

I have a BMW series 1 120 , my problem is the passenger door window only opens to halfway it’s wont fully open any advise would be welcome

Does this happen with drivers side switch for passenger window or just passengers switch, there could be a problem with the motor itself or the window regulator. Some scanning equipment do have special functions in them to work window. Take to your local BMW specialist cheaper than dealer.

Check the main fuse box next to the battery, # 8 max fuse powers IGN MAIN 2 Ignition Switch to Fuses (I/P): BCM PRGRM, FRT HVAC LOW/MED BLWR, FRT WPR/WSHR, HVAC/DRL, MALL/RADIO/DIC, PWR QRT VENT, RR HVAC, RR WPR/WSHR, SWC ACCY & PWR WDO Circuit Breaker.

#3 circuit breaker is the front window breaker, try swapping it out with another breaker beside it and thats located in the side dash panel also.

The common cause of failed power window function is the switch on the doors going bad from dirt. Does the power window on the passenger side go down with the passenger side switch?? if it does then its a bad drivers side and and try cleaning the switch with electrical contact cleaner. 95% of the time this will save you from buying a new switch.

My window on my vert was doing that. Short of opening up the door and trying to do it myself, I took it in to the BMW guys at Bimmerhaus. They readjusted the window for me and it was good to go. Pretty much cost 1 hour of labor and a couple of clamps. $100+ or thereabouts.

330ci BMW hydraulic leak in automatic convertible top. Drivers side. Fluid leaked out and top no longer will go up or down.

Well, replace the offending unit, then bleed the air out of the system...Sometimes you have to remove components and invert them to get all of the air out.

It is not a signal issue. If the other doors are unlocking your system is working correctly. There is a problem with the drivers side lock system. Check to make sure all the push rods and such are working and in the correct locations. This most often occurs when someone has attempted to use a "slimjim" or similar door opening device on the door. When this is done incorrectly the lever that attaches to the unlocking cylinder is popped off and no longer functions correctly.

1997 BMW Convertible driver/passenger windows won't go down

I had a similar problem with a '95 Olds. Turned out that the wires between the door frame and the driver's side door had broken from the constant flexing of the door opening and closing.
