SOURCE: honda 1997 cr v has a thunping sound on the floor

Check the tie rods and the CV joints at both ends going to the trans axle. Also check the motor mounts and bolts going to the tranaxle housing.

Problems with my 97 Honda CRV. Erratic idle, stalls when coming to a stop. Replaced fuel filter, ignition coil, I don't know what else it could be. Possibly carbon deposits in throttle body iac maybe....
It could be the main relay and/or the ecm. Or it could be the distributor timing off.

Could be the ignition switch. Honda issued a recall on 1997 CRV ignitions in 2002.

1997 Honda Crv. Vehicle stalls without warning and will not start for about 10 minutes. Then drives ok for 20-30 miles and then stalls without warning.
what you have is a bad ignition module, when it get hot it stops working, soon it will not start any more, replace it sit in distributor.

1997 Honda CRV - Engine just dies while driving down the road.
I had that same problem a while ago. I changed the coil and the ignition and I have had no problems since. Give that a try and see if it works. I have a 1997 honda crv myself and it seemed to work.
