Automatic transmission? Any fluids added have to go down the dipstick tube.

SOURCE: 97 wrangler oil pressure drops when engine is at idle

check the engine oil level... you could possibly need to replace the oil pump soon... if you do not live in a cold climate i would consider using 30 or 50 weight oil. do NOT use that in a cold climate as the oil is like molasses when it gets cold.
that's only temporary. one other thing to consider is a clogged oil filter... when was the last time it was changed ?

SOURCE: Oil pan removal on a 97 jeep wrangler

Instructions can be found in any basic manual but the simple version is to remove anything obvious that will be in your way (starter, trans lines etc). Disconnect both engine mounts and raise engine to get better clearance (watch stuff on top so you don't break anything) I usually stuff a couple of 2x4 wood blocks between engine & mounts to support it. Remove all pan bolts and take it down (remember pump pickup will interfere) Do what you need to do, then reverse process.

My 97 Jeep Wrangler's speed won't go past 25mph, the rpm will exceed, but not the speed

your forward clutch is slipping, it wont do that for long before you cant move at all,
change your fluid and filter, and add lucas to the trans when you do, if you still have a problem, its over, you need it rebuilt

Can you add lube to rear axel in 2006 jeep wrangler x?

Yes on the rear diff. There's a plug on the back of the housing about 2/3rds the way from bottom. Remove that plug and stick your finger in to first knuckle and bend it down to check the fluid level. If you get oil on your finger tip, it's got oil in it. If not, put oil in till it's at the bottom of said hole. Put the plug back in a tighten it and You're done.

Where are the drain and fill plugs on a 1992 wrangler 4.0 5 speed transmission

To add fluid you use funnel to put it down tube where trans dip stick is,,,,to drain take off trans pan, and this will not drain it all, maybe only 3-4 quarts will come out that way but you can change the trans filter with that pan off. This car is old enough to use a quart of Lucas trans slip treatment, cost 12.99 bottle in any parts store even Walmart, MAKE SURE YOU REPLACE WITH A QUART OF THIS , This is worth every penny it will keep that trans from ever going out from bad cluches. I have revived bad trannys with this stuf.Aloso add what ever trans oil it needs that 4.0 is a ford motor, right Go to wal mart and get a gallon of trans fluid blue bottle for 9.00 and the Lucas trans slip

1994 jeep yj automatic wont shift into 3rd gear

Hey bro, pumps might be gummed up. Easiest thing I can suggest is go through all the gears manually to empty the pumps in the auto transmission. Then try it again. If no joy, then I'd change the transmission fluid and toss in some lucas oil transmission fix. Probably run you 40$ for the oil and lucas and take 30 min. It has saved my **** a few times and might just work. If it doesn't then you probably will need a new transmission, it is cheaper to replace it than to repair it in most cercumstances. Try the oil first, it's cheap and quick. Don't forget the lucas. And make sure to go through all the gears manually to empty the pumps. Cheers bro.

I have a 100k on my 1992 wrangler i have a little lifter noise

If you have an inline 6, 100K is nothing! Lifter noise can be due to low oil pressure. if pressure is good, it can be from cam wear, lifter being sticky inside, or a rocker pivot being a little worn. Most just get a bit sticky (internal hydraulic plunger inside a lifter or two). To fix that I generally change the oil to a good synthetic, add lucas additive or marvel oil and just give it some time to dissolve the gunk. It took time to get that way so don't expect the tapping to go away instantly...Most times it will begin to lessen in a day or two or up to a few weeks.

What type of oil does the transfer case use, 1990 jeep wrangler 231j

dextron III or mercon atf. (I use lucas trans conditioner additive to give a bit more protection, and have had no problems, but it's a non factory item)

I am changing the oil in the manual transmission of my 2002 jeep wrangler sport. i have drained it and am trying to put the fluid in. the manual calls for 3.5 qts. i can't get 2 in without it pouring out...

Let it sit for awhile because it takes cold oil a while to leak down to fill everything. Did you get 3.5 quarts of oil out when you drained? Just add as much as you can, wait awhile, check your dipstick, and add more until you can get it all in the fill hole. With a cold engine and cold oil, it takes a little while.
