Should be a 13mm to remove them.

If you need the thread size and actual length, just call a dealership parts department and they can give you the specs.
I would not use cheaper bolts for the install as they can corrode and snap off easier than the stock bolts.....which may have already done the same.
Make sure to use some nickel anti-seize when installing

Change thermostat on 2004 chevy impala?

first you need drain engine coolant down below thermostat. what engine type 3.8 or 3.4 need to know.the 3.8 engine thermostat housing on top intake follow top radiator hose to thermostat housing.the 3.4 engine you have to remove air filter housing with air inlet duct with mass air flow sensor.you have to remove throttle body with coolant hoses.go to auto parts store buy new throttle body hoses old ones will be hard to remove might have to cut two small hoses also buy new throttle body gasket also. before you can remove throttle body unit you have to remove accelerator cable and downshift cable from bracket bolted to throttle body.once throttle body remove then you can remove thermostat housing bolt remove replace thermostat.

Change thermostat 2003 impala

Follow the top radiator hose from the radiator to the engine. The housing that contains the thermostat is where the hose attaches. Make sure the engine is cold because you will lose some coolant. Remove the radiator hose. Remove the two bolts that hold on the thermostat housing. Remove housing. Do not remove the thermostat until you have the new one ready to put in and put it in exactly in the same direction as the old one. If you don`t it will not work properly. Re-assemble everything taking care not to over tighten the housing bolts. Top up the coolant and start the engine. Observe the coolant level until the engine is at operating temperature and check your coolant level. Top again if needed.

How to change a thermostat on an 2006 impala

follow the top radaitor hose to the motor you will see a metal housing that the hose hooks up to that your thermostat housing there should be 2 bolts loosen them and give the housing a tap, after you remove the housing remember the way the old thermostat came out the new one has to go back in the same way when installing the housing i use a little sealant to help keep it from leaking.

Where is the thermostat located on a 2006 impala? Is there a diagram which shows its placement?

On your car I'm quite sure you open the hood and follow the upper radiator hose to a metal housing with 2 bolts on each side of the housing. Remove the upper radiator hose and anything else connected to the housing, remove the 2 bolts. The thermostat is located inside the housing.

Location of thermostate housing 2002 impala 3400

You're going to lose some coolant, so have a bucket or other container, and some fresh coolant, ready. Follow the upper radiator hose to the point where it's connected to the engine. The hose is clamped to a metal housing (water inlet) which is bolted to the engine. Remove the bolts (not the hose) and lift the housing to expose the thermostat (may require a little prying with a screwdriver or similar tool). Note how the old thermostat is fitted (which end is up), lift it out of the engine, and then remove all traces of gasket from the housing and the engine. Install the new thermostat and gasket, replace the bolts, add coolant as necessary, and you're done.

Where is the thermostat located

thermostat is located at the end of the lower radiator hose, not the upper like most vehicles. Remove the two bolts (most likely 10mm, you'll need a deep socket 10mm) then the housing. The thermostat is in the housing. remove and replace with a new one.

Remove the two housing-to-intake manifold bolts and remove the housing

  1. Remove the thermostat.
To install:
  1. Clean all gasket surfaces completely.
  2. Insert the thermostat in the intake manifold.
  3. Attach the thermostat housing to the intake manifold.
  4. Install the mounting bolt and nut. Tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm)
  5. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  6. Connect the surge tank line to thermostat housing.
  7. Refill the cooling system.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable, remove the radiator cap, then start the engine. Allow the engine to run with radiator cap removed, until the upper radiator hose becomes hot (thermostat open). With the engine idling, add coolant to the radiator until the level is up to the bottom of the filler neck.
  9. Install the radiator cap, making sure the arrows line up with the overflow tube.
