Changing the dome light switch

When you park your car, be sure your indicator switch is in the central position, Dome light is activated by a depression switch on the inside door frames, one of them is faulty

door switch have to find out which door is the cause and replace switch not sure on exact location on a 90 silverado could intergraded with the latch or a push style located in the door frame if they are located in the frame push the button one at a time and hopefully light goes out sometimes pushing switch manually will turn lights out but won't always go out with door being closed hope this helps

These are activated by little push in switches located on the door frame. When you close the door, it pushed the pin switch in and disconnects the power from the inside lights. You should also check the light switch on the dash. There is a setting on the headlight switch usually that allows you to turn on the inside dome lights by that switch. It may be in that position and will keep your inside lights on until the switch is returned back to the normal position.

there are at least 3; 1 is using the dash light switch-turn all the way up;2 that show 4 lights on it-push it and it will turn them off-push it again and it will turn them on; three push on one end or the other end of the actual light.

There are a few possibilities. First, the Dome light usually has 3 settings on its own switch located in the Dome light case.
One position is full OFF, another position is by Door opening, and the final position is FULL ON.
If these settings do not help, then you must have a bad doorjam switch or a grounded wire. When the door switch is pushed in by the closing of the door, the plunger in the stem of the door switch is suppose to separate the wires.
If the switch is cracked within the door frame opening, the wires may not separate and break the connection. You would need to remove the doorjam switch and BEFORE you removed the wires tape something to the wires to prevent losing the wiring loom in the frame of the body.
Another potential reason for the Dome light staying ON is the headlight switch. Turning the light switch beyond the full dash brightness limit will MANUALLY turn on the Dome light. Check to see if the light switch is turned too far.

Some lught bulb you refer? I dont understand your question! Or you refer at dome light switch, that is located in the frame of the door?

The dome lamp receives power from the 10 amp micro fuse located in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) on the M1 circuit. This circuit is HOT at all times. The ground path for the lamp is provided in two different ways.

One way is through the door ajar switches. Circuit M2 connects to all the door ajar switches from the dome lamp. The switches are case-grounded to the body. When a door is opened, the plunger in the switch closes, completing a path to ground.

The second ground path is through the headlamp switch. Circuit M2 is spliced in with the door ajar switches. When the operator turns the headlamp switch to the dome lamp ON position, a ground path is provided through the switch on the Z1 circuit. This ground terminates at the instrument panel left center support.

The time delay relay is used to allow a time-ON function for the ignition switch lamp. Power for the relay is received on the M1 circuit from the 10 amp fuse located in the Power Distribution Center (PDC ).

When a door is opened, or the headlamp switch is moved to the dome lamp position, a ground path is provided for the relay on the M2 circuit. This energizes the relay, closing the contacts. When the relay contacts are closed, power is provided through the relay to the M50 circuit.

The M50 circuit supplies current to the ignition switch lamp in the steering column. Ground for the lamp is provided on the Z3 circuit. This circuit splices with the glove box lamp, the ash receiver lamp, and the PRNDL lamp. The Z3 circuit terminates at the instrument panel left center support.

So, I would check the time delay relay since it supplies power to the circuit. Also, check for a good ground at the instrument panel left center support.

Check the plastic dome light switch which is located inside the driver door frame near the front of the vehicle. There should be a plastic buttom which gets depressed when the door goes shut, thus turning off the dome light. Sometimes, these buttons can get broken or damaged for numerous reasons and stick in, hence permanent dome light.

Its the problem with door switch on the car ,you need to replace the switch
open the car door and you will find button shaped switch on the door frame ,you need to replace it ....

you may have a faulty switch. it is located inside the door on the frame. Check both door switches.
