SOURCE: 1994 ford explorer 4 wheel drive not working

Go to the engine compartment where the relays are located with the fuses. Check or replace the 4 wheel auto engage relay , maybe is not working. Is very clearly mark, I believe is the top right one looking at the bost front front of vehicle to the back. There is a diagram drawing of each relay in the cover, so you can't go wrong.

SOURCE: 98 Ford Explorer won't move in reverse

Sometimes it may just be the fluid level, if you have drive , drive it around the block a few times, then park it on level ground and hold the brake and go through all the gears slowley, two times. put it in park, open the hood and check the fluid level, the dip stick in the back by the fire wall, take it out and clean it, read the stick. SOME need to be checked in Nutral, if this is the case do so but be carefull that the truck has stopped moving when put in nutral!!! if it is low only put in the right fluid, and a little at a time, while it is still running DO NOT OVER FILL !!!!!!!! Also sometimes it is a SENSOR problem, and in most cases not to hard or costly to replace.

SOURCE: Change spark plugs and now car wont start.....1994 ford tarus

Do you have the "firing order" correct? In other words, is each spark plug wire going to the same cylinder it was on before you changed the plugs? If you have done nothing else but changed the plugs then this is the most likely problem.
If when you try to start the car it backfires through the exhaust or backfires through the intake. Then this " IS" the problem. Good luck.

SOURCE: 1994 ford explorer dies while driving

Easy Fix! I know exactly what ur talking about, had the same problem for ******* ever, and its not the fuel pump, trust me!!! and it will cost you absolutely nothing to fix! I don't know what the hell they're called exactly, but on the right side of your engine there's a black box, next to where you put the coolant in, with fuses in it. They look like one inch cubes and will say Ford right on top. One of them is for the fuel pump. Try switching it with one of the others, or just switching all of them around and ur car will fire up, but the one that's not working will cause something else not to work properly, but at least u'll now what the problem is. Than just do what I did: take one with you and go to a junk yard and pull out a bunch, they're the same on many ford vehicles, even the newer ones, like 2000, not just the explorer. Make sure its the same one, pull out a bunch, put em in ur pocket and leave without paying, nobody will notice anyways, but they're tricky to find at a parts store, surprisingly. When ur car is running beatiful again, come back to this post and tell me if I was right! God knows how many ours I spent in that car stranded, waiting for it to fire up. Sometimes it'd be 5 minutes, sometimes an hour, sometimes hours, even days. Never knew when it would or wouldn't. Thought is was the starter too! If it works, tell me!!!

Testimonial: "you have helped me out so so much you were exactly right and also it happened to my sons dodge neon and it was the same solution thank you so so much "

1994 Explorer Eddie Bauer 4x4 wont go into Drive???

Question edited for clarity, full year make model
Question moved to sub category.

It appears to have history. A bit worrying you say 'kinda changed the filter and fluid'. Most are sealed for life, and the amount of fluid is critical. If you drain, you measure what comes out and replace with the same amount of the right type of ATF.

You are not alone with issues

Why wont my 1994 ford thunderbird lx v8 crank but not start?? and why wont my 1998 ford explorer drive in first and second but wont budge in reverse or drive, like it wont engage. please help

explorer has a valve solonoid gone inside the gearbox by the sound of it ,as for the other car not starting then this could be anything and you would need to get a mechanic too look at it for you as the causes are numerous ,have two explorers here one on
UK plates and the other on spanish plates at a local car dealers i do work for and you can have the pair for a 1000euros as monster petrol burners are worthless here ,now a diesel manual version could fetch 4 to 5000euros

What causes squeeking on a 1997 ford explorer in the front

Does it happen while the drive belt is moving? I have an incessant squeak on my Taurus from the a/c compressor. If it sounds like a cricket, it could be your brakes.
