Car stated cold ran rough,drove1 mile sputtering, then killed, code 131 replaced oxy sensor and mass air sensor, now starts then kills.
Basically this means that there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit. The PCM detects that the actual MAF sensor frequency signal is not within a predetermined range of the calculated MAF value for more than 4.0 seconds. I would try cleaning out your MAF sensor with some carb cleaner and reseting the check engine light to see if it comes back on. If it does, get back on here and let us know and we will walk you through some other things you can try. Cleaning it out will be the easiest/cheapest thing for you to try right now. Good luck. Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa.

You might just have a Ignition Coil Mod or Coil Pack problem. Brendan

this sounds like a fuel issue, sometimes can be difficult to diagnose because its obviously being intermittant. whether its a fuel pressure regulator or the pump itself, i feel the most likely cause is the pump itself losing prime and thats why you have to try 2 times or more to crank because you are creating pressure from the fuel tank everytime you try to crank, this would also be a possibility as to the shut off if its getting hot than shutting down and than your able to start it back up. i would put a fuel pressure gauge on the vehicle and watch my fuel pressure readings to make sure they are staying true. if the fuel pump checks out than it will be an ignition or computer issue, i hope this helps
