The best adviser I can give you is to take it to Auto Zone or Advance Auto and ask them to connect the code reader to the vehicle and tell you what the fault code is, that will tell you where to look for the problem.

Pistol? No such animal in an engine. If you mean piston I can't see how they could tell you that without tearing the engine down. If a piston has broken usually it will damage a cylinder wall. Unless the engine is completely torn down and the cylinders are re-machined and fitted with new oversize ones, no repair is going to work.(not correctly) If you have a bad set of rings or a bad wrist-pin, that can be done but generally that is still expensive. Likely your best solution would be a good scrapyard engine or a rebuilt one. Before going further though you should get a second opinion from another good shop. Since being online prevents anyone from looking at or doing the appropriate tests, that is something you need to have done.

Code P0301 is a generic OBD Code for Misfire. It also indicates you have a misfire in the #1 Cylinder. I would start by checking the plug wire to make sure its clean and on all the way (at the coil as well). Then if that doesnt help I would pull the plug out and check the condition of the spark plug. hopefully this will give you some direction. Thanks for Using FixYa!
