Rocam engine, just replaced an old alternator with a brend new but still doing the same thing
This sounds like a fuse problem. Keep in mind that sometime a fuse will look ok when it is blown. You need to check them out with a voltmeter set on resistance. If the fuses are ok then the next thing I would check is a bundle of wires leading to the gauges that are not connected. A plug may be unplugged. If you don't find anything unplugged then you need to check the wires leading the troubled gauges to see if there is voltage with your volt meter. If you get voltage then gauges should work. If you don't have voltage you will have to follow the wires back toward the fuses and then back towards the battery. Good luck!
It will be a blown fuse check owners manual or locate fuse box in car and check for blown fuse

pull the instrument cluster out and check the printed circuit and connector to it from harness, plug it in and out three or four times, this may cure the problem.
SOURCE: digital fuel gage reads only having 4 gals even
Check they float in the gas tank. From what I've been gathering they tend to go pretty easily.
SOURCE: speedo cutting out and on low revs the engine will then cut out
speed sensor on the back of gearbox

My 04 Ford Focus the battery light keeps coming on & going off, have fitted a new alternator belt but it didn't solve the problem. The battery connections are good. Also the rev counter, speedo & mileage clock keep going haywire when the battery light is on. Do you think it is the alternator? Or is it some other common problem?

Sometimes when the batery of vehicle goes flat or when u fit a new car batery to the bantams they love to give that problems like gauges not working rpm not working speedo not working and cluster display is dead, u disconect the batery termanils and for example fit positive termanil and arc. Or short til that blue spark occur then u swop around negative on and arc positive, leave the ignition switched on arc til gauges move!! Don't ask me why but that happend to me! A autoelek friend of mine showed me this! NB don't tri this with vehicles with a lot of elektric featers it can cause demage to ecu (engine control unit)
