You can pull the fuel pump relay and start the vehicle. L:et it run until it dies.

you can find the Schroeder valve on the fuel rail and depress the core to release pressure.

you can just disconnect one o the pressure lines. there is only 35 - 40 psi of fuel pressure. Wrap a rag around the fitting before pulling it apart to keep the mess to a minimum.

Where is the fuel pressure regulator located on a 1988 Dodge B-150 van, 5.2 liter? I've been told it's on the fuel rail. Where is the fuel rail?

If you have throttle-body fuel injection, you don't have a fuel rail. The fuel pressure regulator should be mounted to throttle body.

2001 GMC Safari does not start unless starting fluid is added to once it starts I must apply my foot on the gas peddle it boggles down a little then will stay on once I release the gas pedal the van stalls...

Better have the fuel pressure checked for starters. Even though the pump comes on, your fuel pressure might be too low. Lots of GM vehicles are finicky about proper fuel pressure, especially at start up. It could be a weak pump or failed fuel pressure regulator-a pressure test will sort it all out.

How to change the fuil filter

The filter should be in the fuel line under the van. One side is threaded and the other uses a plastic clip to release.
Make sure you release fuel pressure before disconnecting the lines.

Fuel filter

Should be mounted under the van in front of the gas tank.
You may need a special tool to release the clip and unlock the line to remove. The tool is available at the parts store where you buy the filter.
Don't forget to release the fuel pressure before removing the filter.

Want to replace fuel pressure regulator in 2000 dodge ram 1500 van 3.9 engine service manuel offers no help

The fuel pressure regulator/filter assembly is located on the top of the gas tank If you can access it without dropping tank is an open question, i think the tank needs to at least be dropped part way out and supported on a floor jack. You May also need the special tool to release the fuel line on some models. See picture of regulator below.

Leak on fuel line e 150 1991

Change the Fuel Filter the process is
  • 1

Park the van on a flat, level surface. Ensure the parking brake is set.

  • 2

Open the hood to locate the fuse panel. The fuse panel is located by the battery. Find the relay for the fuel pump and pull it out by hand.

  • 3

Start the van and allow it to idle until it stalls out. This will depressurize the fuel system.

  • 4

Locate the fuel filter under the van. The filter is located by the driver door mounted along the frame rail.

  • 5

Disconnect the inlet fuel line with the quick-disconnect tool. This tool can be purchased at any automotive-parts stores. Place the tool over the connection and pull it toward the filter. This will release the fuel line from the filter. Repeat to release the line on the outlet end. Place a piece of masking tape over the inlet line to help remember which line is which. The inlet line is the line coming from the fuel tank into the filter. The outlet line is the line that runs to the engine from the filter.

  • 6

Unbolt the filter from the bracket assembly. Slide the filter from the bracket.

  • 7

Slide the new filter to the mounting bracket. Tighten the bracket with a socket wrench. Ensure the arrow is pointing toward the front of the van. The arrow designates the direction of the fuel flow.

  • 8

Push the inlet line onto the filter. The line will lock in place. Ensure the tape is removed before installing. Connect the outlet line to the filter. It will lock in place also.

  • 9

Insert the fuel pump relay back into the fuse panel. This will pressurize the fuel system.

  • 10

Turn the ignition to the "start" position and allow the fuel pump to prime itself and push fuel through the lines. Attempt to start the van; it may not start right away. Once the van has started allow it to run for five minutes and observe for leaks.

I have a 1998 chevy express van.i have spark and fuel up to the trader valve.the van is not getting gas to start.i am thinking it is the fuel regulator module or the fuel regulater. what do you think?

Put a fuel pressure cage on the Schrader valve to test for fuel pressure. The fuel pump may not be running up to snuff or the regulator may be faulty. The strainer sock on the pickup tube in the fuel tank may have collapsed which will restrict the fuel flow.

    Fuel pressure valve

You don't need to relieve the fuel pressure unless you are doing this while the engine is running.. 90% of the pressure is released upon shutting off the engine.
If you disconnect he filter there may be a bit of fuel that comes out..

But should you just feel you need to release the pressure look on the fuel rail in the engine compartment and there you will see stainless pipes going to the injectors on one of them you will see a black cap and under that is a valve like a bike has. press the center and this will release any remaining pressure..
