Where is the coil pack located on 1996 oldsmobile achevia?

you will have to check the wiring from the power control module back to find the loss of power with a volt meter.

what do you have when you check fuel pressure-what do you have for compression numbers for each cylinder-Denny

I'm guessing that you have a 2.2L 4 cylinder (The V6 uses a coil pack and wires) that uses a coil over ignition. You'll need to remove the coil assembly to extract the spark plugs from underneath.

I would look into changing coil packs. When your coil packs go bad they tend to cut out as the engine warms up.

The ignition module is located under the coil packs on the v-6 engine.
That is where the spark plug wires go to the spark plugs . When you remove the coil packs ,the flat peice is themodule.When you remove the module , the crankshaft sensor is sometimes located there ,and that also should be changed

i just had my coil pack replaced. .. .i had a misfire in #8 then random misfires. .. i changed the #6/8 and it didnt make a bit of difference. ..

before that i thought i had a fuel leak or a leak in the air intake.
if i was stopped at a light, the rpm would move up and down slightly. . the car would act as if it wanted to leap forward. and sometimes it would just cut off at a light so i would keep it in neutral . . .at one point. it would take me 4 or 5 tries to start it up. . i changed the fuel pressure regulator then it worked ok for a minute then back to the same. ..

anyway turned out to be the whole coil pack that needed replacing

The ignition module is at fault then

mr friend - we had same problems with our 1990 Buick Regal 3.8. fix all the same things and didn't help. took it to a dealer for a diagnostic. told us it was ecm. r i replaced it, runs great.

the cranshat position sensor is located very close to the ignition ciol pack, and it is a two wire conector, if you can't still find it remove the coil pack and should be behid it
