You may have seized the engine-if your battery is fully charged and you cannot the engine to crank, the engine may be toast-try putting a socket on the crankshaft pulley ( I think it is a 24mm) and rotate it clockwise with a breaker bar-if you cannot turn it by hand, the engine is done.
a noise in the engine is not a good news but you have 70% chance that you engine crank shaft and parts arround it are bad. in some case if your car is auttomatic ,a crack in the flight weell may cause the "knocking sound " please ck you fly w before you make decisions .if you engine is bad ..,, change it .it will cost you more to try to fix it
I think that your crank angle sensor failed. Is the check engine light on?? if so, scan it and get code. If the code is P0335, than you need new crank angle sensor. Nissan has been having some problems with those even on other Nissan products. (Altima, Pathfinder and so on) Good luck.
