Most older cars had 2 adjustments , a air screw for enrichment and throttle screw for engine idle speed, later models did away with the enrichment screw, to adjust set idle screw to 600 rpm, adjust air mixture screw to fastest rpm , reset idle screw to preferred idle speed.

Safari 1994 gmc carburator

Well the engine is fuel injected, so no carb is used.
Base idle is set at the factory, and the computer adjusts idle speed depending on load by controlling the amount of air entering the throttle body thru the idle air control valve.

How can you adjust the carburetor on a 1987 GMC safari van V-6

If the carburator has never been rebuilt, or the plugs that were installed at the factory have never been removed, you need to remove those plugs, there is one for each idle mixture screw, at the front of the base plate on the bottom of the carburator, 1 for the TPS adjustment on the driver side front of the carburator, and one for the mixture control solenoid on top of the carburator, in the middle, towards the front.

How do i adjust the carburator ? I put a carburator on this car , and ,like an idiot, messed around with the adjusting screws, to keep it running. Now I don't know how to adjust it back.I have a haynes...

Turn the front idle screws in until they bottom out gently. DON'T turn them in hard or you will damage the tapered ends. From there turn them back out 1 and 1/2 turns. That should start the car and you can adjust from there. If you do then do it in 1/4 turns and do both screw at tne same time. Hope this helps.

I need to adjust the carburator, how do i do it? its a 1984 ford ltd crown victoria, 5.0

What do you need to adjust? What is the symptom?
If you need to adjust the idle, there is an idler screw that has a tension spring on it so it will stay in place. Tighten it clockwise to increase the idle RPM and counter-clockwise to lower the idleing RPM.
Treat the linkage arms with carburator cleaning spray (AutoZone $4).

1989 accord lx, idles high at start-up, now it won't stay running

Carburated engines of that year may have an idle screw adjuster. You can see the screw from the outside of the carb. If so, try adjusting the carburator with a screwdriver. Unlike fuel injected Engines they can be manually adjusted.
