Why would the 4 by 4 lite stay on when in 2wd

Shift fork actuator is stuck or malfunctioning.

Well this car is PArt time 4wd
so that means someone shifted to 4wd, right?
or it wound not be on now, in most cases.
if you shifted to 4wd in dry pavement (its summer)
that be wrong, and can be hard to leave 4wd, due to that error.
on all PT 4wd that is true. (save it for dirt, or ice)
so drive to dirt, or put on tire on grass,sand, or gravel or dirt.
now it shifts to 2wd ok, see.
stop using 4wd. on dry pavement if true..... is it?
you never said if it was in 4wd. (in last 2 days?)
only the light, one, so do you know the feel of 4wd
on drive pavement,
steers hard. as you move car.
car bucks, and driveline wind up and bad angry sounds. damage.

if its not in 4wd then the lamp goes to a switch, this switch or wire
can fib. (bad wires, or shorted)
so are you in 4wd, that be first first.
