The way your heater works is by using water from the engines cooling system.when you select warm on the controls a valve mounted in the water that runs from the engine bay through the firewall to a small radiator mounted behind the dashboard. That valve is possibly what failed

If the heater hoses are hot, odds are the blend door that controls air temp is stuck or otherwise not moving. There are three blend doors under the dash.
You may need a shop manual to get the instructions on how to test them.

Testimonial: "Thanks guys. I found the heat actuator switch/valve behind the glovebox...the valve was making noise,so it wouldbnt allow the vent door to open or shut. So I manually opened the vent door and it fixed it. Heat works great. Eventually I will have to take it in to get that switch replaced. Thanks again."

My ford explorer only blows heat when turned all the way up

Sway bars are there to give cornering stability when steering and as such is a safety requirement. The link will be cheap and easy to replace so why waste time and risk safety to put it off. As to the heating problem and I would be checking the control module that allows the heater tap to turn on as it appears that there is insufficient coolant getting into the heater either from a tap half on or blocked hoses/core.

My air in my 1997 ford explorer blows hot all the time. when a/c is on the heat fights the cold. can u help?

the heater has a temp blend door the motor that opens and shuts it die . the water or coolant flows through the heater all thye time and this door opens up and lets thye hot air in then the fan blows it around so if the door is always open you will only get hot air .NO Air Con as the hot air heats up the cold real thing .you get to this motor through the clove box very easy iopen the clove box there are stops that dont let it fall down on your legs .now push those stop thingy in on both sides the clove box will come all the way down there byou will see the heater unit and the motor attached on top of it there are 3 bolts on bottom 8mm feel around 1st then un do the flip it up with a blade screw driver unplug the wiers 1st then fit the new one happy day all done the put back together now you have heat and AC again

My ac blows great but my heater doesn't work anymore. it never overheats, plenty of coolant... could this be something as easy as a fuse

There is a valve that opens and closes to allow hot water to circulate through the heater core. This valve has failed.

No HEAT 96 Ford Explorer

i would guess your heater blend door is sticking. It is a rectangular door that moves back & forth to allow either cold air or hot air or a mix out of your vents. This is not an easy fix. But first be sure you heater hoses have hot water flowing in and out of the heater core. Under the hood you should find 2 hoses going into your firewall on the passenger side.

Engine hot ... heater cold ?

Check the coolant level, it could be as easy a fix as adding coolant because it's low. Low level causes engine to overheat, and low level won't circulate to heater core, so no heat situation even though engine is running hot. Let me know if this fixes it, if not I'll help .

Sounds like you are either low on coolant, or a head gasket failure.

Heat when the fan blow at 2 but cold if the fan is at 3 speed

1st make sure the heated core is getting hot, do this by feeling the hoses under the hood that supply hot coolant to the core, if the inlet and outlet are hot then the core has circulation and is not the problem, check this and let me know what you find.
