SOURCE: anti theft system

The chip is in the key. Either the key has lost it's program or the transceiver is not recognising the key. Try another key if you have one.

SOURCE: i would like to disable the factory anti-theft and

According to the people at jeep it can not be disabled. WRONG!!!! here are the steps that work.
First you must pull the plastic off the front of the dash on the passenger side.
Behind the glove box you will find a metal box shaped compartment.
Inside that box is your alarm. DO NOT DISCONNECT IT YET!!!!!!!!!!
The most important thing is the jeep must be running before you disconnect the alarm.
Start the jeep and look at the little box and you will find one screw that is holding the alarm box in place. remove the screw and disconnect the wires going to it.
At this point you can turn off the jeep.
The reason you must have the jeep running is the computer shows it has an alarm in place and if you disconnect it while the jeep is not running it will shut down the jeep thinking it has been stolen.
With the jeep running and you disconnect the alarm it will not be able to send the code to the computer showing an alarm is in place and the jeep alarm will not cause you any problems ever again..
If you have questions about this just let me know at [email protected]

How do I reset the ProLock system?

Hi Carol , do you mean PATS passive antitheft system ? Locked up your car ,do you mean it won't crank over an start ?
The passive anti-theft system uses radio frequency identification technology to deter a driveaway theft. Passive means that it does not require any activity from the user.
  • During each vehicle start sequence, the ignition key identification code is requested by the vehicle protection anti-theft electronics.
  • If the key's ID code has been programmed into the system, the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650) is signaled to enable the vehicle to start.
  • If the key's ID code is not programmed into the system, or if no encoded key is detected, then the powertrain control module is signaled to disable the vehicle.
The passive anti-theft system communicates the state of the security system to the powertrain control module via the J-1850 communications network data link connector (DLC). The powertrain control modulebased on the communications from the passive anti-theft system, will determine if the vehicle's engine is enabled to start. The passive anti-theft system differs from the active anti-theft alarm system in that the passive anti-theft system enables/disables the vehicle from starting and only operates with the ignition switch in RUN/START position. The active anti-theft alarm system has perimeter protection capabilities and operates only with the ignition switch OFF. Refer to Section 13-11A for active anti-theft alarm system information.
Vehicle Disabling The passive anti-theft system will be activated and disable the vehicle from starting if any of the following conditions exist:
  • damaged encoded key
  • unprogrammed key
  • non-encoded key (key has no electronics)
  • wiring concern
  • transceiver concern
  • Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) control module concern
  • J-1850 Communications Network concern
  • Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

How to reset anti-theft on a 2000 alero

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

99 ranger won't crank, periodically, has anti theft.

I looked at your security system, it is starter motor disable and fuel injectors. You can usually get the starter crank, but, if it is the security system, it still won't start because of fuel injectors. I don't know any way to bypass security system. You can check for applicable trouble codes, if there are any?

Anti-thief system cut off power to den gine an won't cut it back on

If you are dealing with the anti theft the anti theft will flash as you are trying to start the vehicle if this is the case then it is the anti theft if not then you are not dealing with a ant theft issue. You can do a 30 minute relearn procedure without a scan tool. here is how Turn ignition on without the engine reunning.attempt to start the vehicle then release the key to ON.(vehicle doest start) Observe the security light.afeter 10 minutes the security light will turn off.Turn off the ignition and wait 5 seconds.do this 3 times for 30 minutes. start the engine with the engine started the vehicle will learn the passlock key.

DOES THE PASS KEY II THEFT SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE DISENGAGED THROUGH THE RADIO THEFT 4 CODE SYSTEM TO RESTORE THE FUEL SYSTEM IN 1995 OLDSMOBIL88 LSS

The Passkey anti theft system and the radio theft deterrent system are completely separate systems, so the answer is no the radio code does nothing to the Passkey. Passkey is a passive system, that is to say it disarms itself and arms itself just by inserting or removing the key from the ignition and locking the door of the car either with the key or the remote. If the Passkey is the source of any problem and is not working correctly then the Security light should be flashing in the dash to indicate a problem. The most common issue with the Passkey 1 and 2 is that the reader located in the ignition switch lock cylinder goes bad, this locks out the fuel pump and the engine will not start. The system can be bypassed but it is not easy.

1998 oldsmobile intrigue and security light keeps coming on flashing and the car won't start. but now its not flashing and the car still wont start what do i do or what could be wrong?

The problem is in the key or ignition. Aside from the key working like a normal key, it also has a chip or transponder in it that is part of the security antitheft system. The key is then read by the ignition and must communicate the correct signal. If there are any break in communication, the system goes into anti theft and locks out the starter. Might be a key issue or an ignition issue. The fact that the light is flashing, indicates key or ignition. If it were solid, then the problem would be the Theft Deterrent Module (TDM) that is the main computer of the security system. You can either fix the problem part, take it to a dealer who is authorized to fix it, or bypass it entirely. This link explains the system and how you can fix it yourself. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
