without taking a lot of parts off
will be best to buy a 2006-2014 vitara repair manual
see if the exhaust manifold removal makes it possible
or the engine mount bracket

starters are normally located at the rear of the motor usually hard to get too or see. should be on your bell housing in other words just in front of the gearbox/clutch

I dont think you have an head gasket problem.Check that your therostat is working.Try running the engine without it.Or replace it.I would like to now a little moore about this problem,You dont give enough detail on it.

Thanks a lot Magna Buff. I knew there was a reason why there was almost every video you could think of made about the Vitara except the one I needed. Obviously you would catch hell trying to replace this starter. Requires a lot more time than I have to give. Normally I would tackle things myself but right now I have a lot going on.
