2001 Dodge Durango 4.7L shut off issue

2001 Dodge Durango 4.7L just shut off with check gages light coming on. After sitting started up and while driving Fuel Gage dropped to Empty and DTE indicated 0. Tank was 3/4 full. Verified by filling up. Gage now only shows 1/2 full and DTE at 141 about 1/2 distance normally.

Don't worry about the fuel gauge. Check grounds under the hood. Battery to body, also PCM to body, both on the passenger side. The only reason the car would die from the fuel is because of the PCM. The gauge and pump or controlled by it. First have the codes read.

Michael, take vehicle into a good shop and have scanned to see what diagnostic codes are in computer, have shop estimate repair.
Issue with fuel gage could be bad wire/plug or faulty sending unit.

01 Dodge Durango started smoking white smoke from under hood at light check gauges comes on and off got it home it starts and runs but will shut off and now has check engine light

you may have just smoked the oxygen sensor wire, its located in the exhaust. If you have the money pay the checkout charge at the dealer if not, back trace it from the sensor and see if you can find melted insulation

On my 2001 Dodge Durango Gages you do not work in

Dead battery? Check the simple stuff first. Disconnect and clean and then connect tightly the terminals, then check. Never underestimate the importance of a good connection to your battery. This problem could be as simple as the battery or a need of a new PCM so start with the simple and sometimes obvious.

2001 dodge durango check gage light came on, battery gage when to low. Do I need a new battery?

Have your charging system checked. It could be a bad battery not taking a charge, or it could be an alternator problem, not putting out sufficient power.

I don't see the problem
You have a check light on, most of the time.
Check lights have been on vehicles for 31 model years now. Surely you know why! You have a system malfunction, get the code read, as soon as the light comes on,and have the vehicle repaired.

What has, getting tired off a vehicle and a newer one, that will develop similar issues, have to do with this. Educate yourself.

2001 dodge durrango check gages light comes on why

When the check gages light comes on just after start up usually one or more gages have momentarily not picked up yet. Dodges are famous for this. If the light stays on for more than 10 seconds and all gages are working t could be a faulty sending unit or you may have to get the computer software reloaded at a dealer
