1995 ford ranger onlu sparking to 3 cylinders

Only getting spark to 3 cylinders. changed coil packs, injectors are good, changed crank shaft position sensor. still no spark from coil pack on #3 cylinder

The coils are fired by the ECM, check all the wires to the ECM from the coils and make sure the signal is getting through and you don't have a wiring issue at the engine firewall connector on the driver side firewall.

most cars with old coil packs 4 cylinders is just one pack
not coils but yes 2 coils in 1 pack run 4 cylinders, using wasted spark tech.
oops this old dog run 8 spark plugs now that is different.

we do know 1 and 4 fire as one and 3 and 2 first as one pair too.
I sure hope the 2 coils fire, the same way.

During engine cranking, the powertrain control module will only fire the spark plugs on the right-hand side of the engine.Whenthe engine has started, the powertrain control module will start normal twin-plug operation.

1994 Ford Ranger 4.0. #5 and 6 no fuel, the spark is good and injectors are new? Bad harness?

that post makes little sense.
#5 and 6 means what? add 1 noun please.
spark is good to all 6 cylinders.
no fuel out of all injectors.
THe ECU spark the spark plugs
and if the ECU sees gross spark errors it cuts fuel ,hard pure logic in the ECU does that and by law
ever to the 1994 ECU DTC diagnosic jumper flash code tests
in the service manual>

this is a gasoline engine (petrol Otto cycle rules) and as such
engine must be good first. 150psi compression x6 is good
and next is spark good on all 6 , not just 1,
how many spark coils are there, 1994. (spark tech changes fast then)
the 4.0 has 6 lug HV terminal coil pack and must not be wired up wrong because this coil pack as 3 coils inside, called wasted spark
and if wired wrong 2 or 4 or more spark plugs fail for firing order.
and time. they still spark but at the wrong time.
not the distributor version but is DIS system.I am taking, vin X

Vin -8th = X 4.0, no distrib.
if engine was good, and spark was good even a fully dry fuel TANK
test fuel works now, (spray instant starter fluid) for 3 seconds. each try.
i bet yours fails that test. or sounds horrible misfiring badly.
crank senors dead
cam sensor dead. (cam shaft synchronizer, seen where old disributor was older year) either sensor dead, FUEL IS CUT by LAW.



do not mix up the wires or doomed misfire grossly.

2006 Ford Ranger 3 litre. I had no spark on 2/3 and massive spark on Cyl 1. Replaced coil pack and now have massive spark coming from all 3 on that bank. What can be the cause from Cylinder 1?

FIRST OFF LEARN THE RULES OF WASTED SPARK COIL PACKS
1-IF ONE WIRE OR PLUG GOES OPEN, YOU LOSE 2 PLUGS DEAD THAT IS BECAUSE 2 FIRE AT ONCE, AND IS WIRED IN SERIES
2-DO NOT MIX IF THE WIRES OR FIRING ORDER IS LOST (HORROR 1)

3- LEARN TO REPLACE HV WIRES 1 BY 1, NOT MIXING THEM UP EVER.
YOUR PACK IS 6 IN ONE, AND HAS 3 COILS INSIDE FIRING IN WASTED SPARK ORDER. IS THIS CLEAR? AND ANSWERS IT ALL.

4- WELL THE HV WIRES ARE FIRST TO CHANGED OUT WITH NEW SPARK PLUGS AS 17 OLD PLUGS AND HV WIRE SETS ARE NO GOOD UNLESS NGK MAG WIRE, NOW THAT IS A WINNER THOSE, NOT CARBON CORE OR SILCONE CORE JUNK WIRES EVER,SEE NOW MOTORCRAFT SAVED OUR BACON,

P0303 cylinder 3 misfire

If # 3 cylinder has spark at the plug it must fire if the following conditions apply. Injector is supplying fuel to the cylinder. and cylinder compression tests OK . So check above ,one or both must be at fault.

You could, but I would also check, spark plug wire's and ignition coil pack, and if that checks good, do a cylinder compression test, if all good replace fuel injector then.
