Where is the oil pressure sensor on a 1995 Chevy Truck? V-8, 5.7 L. I have the new one, just can't find the one I need to replace.

If you go to a parts store, I prefer CARQUEST, they will gladly print up a schematic or just show you where it is if that is all you need.

Oil pressure gauge is not registering a reading. oil pressure is good. any suggestions on what the problem may be?

o.k. but the sender has a bimetal element inside it even if the connection looks good the sender inside can be damaged and not making contact thus no reading also I think you might have the wrong sender installed so here's the photo's to help you

2.9 with the gauge

2.9L and the 2.3L are the same for each engine with the light the gauge senders are different this could be the problem wrong sender installed and its not reading pressure because it can't? good luck stephen

Oil pressure gauge

Oil sender unit possibly. Have seen problems with some of the Toyotas sender units before. Best to take the sender unit off and check the oil pressure to be safe so you do not cook the engine.

If oil pressure sensor is bad could it damage my vehicle further

It's a warning light system that no oil pressure exists. If it doesn't work, it won't cause damage, you just won't know if and when your oil pressure is lost. The sensor or sender unit is very inexpensive on most vehicles, like under $10.
All the sender does is cause the oil light to go off when it detects minimal pressure. A valve inside the sender moves and causes the sender to stop grounding the warning light, and so the light goes off.

Oil light comes on when the engine warms up and only while idiling.

Replace your oil pressure sender (it screws into the head and has a single wire going to it)and the problem should go away. If you replace the oil pressure sender and the light continues to stay on, try another oil pressure sender. If the light is still coming on, replace the oil pump in the oil pan.

Engine runs fine oil checks out good yet oil light comes on?

You need to verify that oil pressure is ok.
They sell gauge at the parts store which has to be connected to the engine block via oil pressure sender hole.
For that , take out oil pressure sender(unscrew) and screw the gauge in to the hole (con thread).Run the engine and see if pressure is ok at idle and on higher RPM.Gauge suppose to have scale (norm. , low , high ).If oil pressure within specs , repl. oil pressure sender.
Or just replace oil pressure sender and see if that helps. They are not expensive ~ $30.00 , gauge probably the same money.
