On my way home my truck started overheating as i was pulling in the driveway. I changed waterpump yesterday and now it runs fine on the freeway but heats up around town.

I replaced the radiator like 12 mmonths ago and the thermostat twice in the last year. I also had to change the head gaskets 6 months ago.

Cooling fan not working correctly. If you have a electric fan check relays to do this start vehicle and let run listen for fan this will be your low speed. If that works Rev vehicle and listen for the second fan to turn on if not you probably have a bad relay. If your fan is belt driven make sure it is working properly. The fan isn't spinning vast enough for town driving

sounds like a regulator malfunction to me..need to connect a battery/alternator tester to the system and see if the regulator is bad.. this will cause full charge of the alternator to enter the system.. this uses the battery as a regulator and will cause overheating of wires and relays..if the alternator can be removed and tested separately(most can), do this and see if this is the case..replace if bad..good luck..

This engine is electronically controlled so the first thing that must be done here is to have the systems control computer tested for fault codes and then do the proper diagnostics based on those codes.

Is it the water pump

look to see if it is coming from passenger side,I have the exact same car I personally drive and similar thing happened to mine a couple years ago and it was waterpump but if you overheated it and drove it you may have a blown head gasket.Make sure your oil has not turned to chocolate milk. thats sort of what it looks like

there is a strong possibility that the impellers on the waterpump are broken!!!!. they are made out of plastic and are notorious for breaking. ck this first have seen it countless times. make sure new waterpump has metal impellers.
