If your transmission has gone your best option is a factory rebuild. Most modern transmissions are very sensitive to having clean fluid. You may just be having an issue with dirty ATF automatic transmission fluid. Try a fluid change with the correct ATF. If this does not work and you have around $2000 to $2500 to spare the Chrysler dealer installed factory rebuild with 36.000 mile warranty is your best option for fixing the Caravan. Any small shop offering the same service for a couple hundred less could be more trouble than it is worth. If you go with the salvage yard transmission there is no warranty on the installation and you could end up paying to install 2 or 3 before you get a good one.
the internal selinoid has gone bad in the transmission may have caused damage internally in the gears transmission needs to be taken apart and inspected
Hi. the first issue may be a clogged filter on the transmission. i would check the filter to see if its dirty or needs to be changed. The next problem that may be causing the shift issues could be the speed shift solenoids. if these devices are malfunctioning, they can cause the transmission to not shift correctly. i suspect a bad or dead shift solenoid. they are located inside of the transmission pan. If you pull the transmission pan and you see a lot of dirt and metal pieces on the bottom of the pan, you may need to rebuild this transmission soon.
