Sarah, The Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on your Kia is located below rad hose driver side by exhaust manifold. May be a good time to flush coolant system when changing sensor.

The coolant temperature sensor is a thermistor mounted in the engine
coolant stream. A thermistor is an electrical device that varies its
resistance in relation to changes in temperature.
For 2.5L engines, the coolant temperature sensor is located on the left side of the cylinder head.
For
MFI engines, the coolant temperature sensor is located on the intake
manifold water jacket or near (or on) the thermostat housing.

I've been told that EFI engines do not have a user adjustable mixture setup... except the thing attached to the trottle body... and that needs an expert with proper tools... Forgive me but again I strongly suggest you obtain a shop manual...
the thermostat is behind the front engine cover and you will also need to remove the timing belt to get at it ,the temperature sensor is on the cylinder head but i cannot remember exactly as i get confused between this vehicle and the opel astra model which is the europeon version or a vauxhall in the UK or a holden down under

If you do, then it's an issue with one of your O2 Sensors.
You may have a short in the heater circuit in the sensor The O2 sensor heater has failed The wires connecting the sensor are broken or frayed
Most likely you will need to replace the sensor. The sensor is Bank 2 Sensor 1 Bank 2 means it is located opposite of where cylinder 1 is (not sure where cylinder 1 is on your car) and Sensor 1 will mean it's the sensor located before the catalytic converter
it should be right by the upper radiator hose. it just unscrews. go to auto zone they can help..youll have to drain some coolant. or go to the library for help
