What is the pressure in your low pressure side at 80 degrees ambient? Did you use gauges?
U said the clutch will not stay engaged, meaning that it engages and then releases. If so, that means the clutch winding is good but that perhaps you have a loose wire feeding the clutch or a bad, intermittent relay. And if that is not the case then you are LOW in freon and the low pressure cut off switch is disconnecting the clutch when the pressure goes down. Pressure should be around 35 pounds on suction line at about 3000 rpm.

The pressure means nothing as far as the state of charge. You need to have the system completely evacuated and recharged with the specific charge weight for that vehicle. Only then can the pressures or anything else mean anything.

1998 honda passport ac not working compressor clutch engages

Just because the clutch is engaging does not mean it has enough freon to make it cold. I would want to know what the high and low pressure gauge readings are. It may need a can or two.

BLOWER MOTOR QUIT AND FAN SWITCH BURNED OUT ON 98 CHEV SILVERADO

Sounds like you didn't add oil , when freon goes the oil goes also. When you say locked up , you mean the compressor won't turn when the clutch engages? Either too much freon or the oil was gone from the system when you put freon in it.

it's either low (in spite of your readings) or your a/c clutch is not working correctly or you have too big an air gap in the clutch.
First, just disconnect the 2 pin connector from the a/c pressure cycling swithc and jumper the 2 pins with a wire to force the clutch to stay engaged. See if it blows cold then, and stays engaged. You can run this way for about 15 minutes before you have to pull the plug.

Ac won't get cold anymore power to compressor but won't click on clutch won't engage possible problems are compressor or evaporator what do you think?

Has the Freon been checked with a gauge to see if there is enough Freon to allow the system to work. Low or no Freon will not allow the compressor to engage. The low pressure switch is most likely activated due to low freon, and will cause this condition.

AC clutch will not engage

Usually when AC clutch doesn't engage is symptom of low freon. It's a safety feature so you don't burn up compressor. Compressor is lubed by freon and oil. Check freeing levels before replacing anything. Other things to check -fuse (yes that simple, they pop when freon gets low too, when compressor has to work harder than normal) If that doesn't cure issue then have a competent shop look at it... they'll find obstruction, leak or moisture in system in a heartbeat.

A/C compressor not engaging.

IF THE SYSTEM HAS A LEAK, THEN THE COMPRESSOR CLUTCH WILL NOT ENGAGE. TRY PUTTING SOME 134A FREON IN THE LOW SIDE(LARGER OF THE TWO LINES). AND SEE IF THE CLUTCH PULLS IN. IF IT DOES, THEN THERE IS A LEAK SOMEWHERE. IF YOU GET THE FREON WITH THE LEAK DETECTOR DYE IN IT, THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO LOCATE IT RATHER EASY. SOME CANS COME WITH A STOP-LEAK, BUT THESE TEND TO CLOG UP THE ORIFICE TUBES. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK

1994 subaru legacy 2.2 liter, a/c compressor will not engage, fuse is good, fans turn on, but the compressor clutch does not engage.

two things stop the compressor from engaging,
A bad relay and the low coolant switch.  Sometimes to recharge the system you need to jump the low coolant switch.  Good luck

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd 4.0L A/C problems

this is most likely a a lack of r-134a (as freon is no longer used), if your system is completely out or close to it then the pressure sensor will not allow the compressor clutch to engage, it is also possible that there is an electrical issue but less likely. to know for sure you need to put some gauges on the system
