This issue was corrected so far by replacing the EGR sensor and resetting the check engine alarm.

Could be out of alignment or a wheel sensor. If you take it in for an alignment it has to a shop that can deal with traction control sensors. The days of old wheel alignments are gone. IF the computer senses the wheels out of alignment then it believe the vehicle is slipping and gives an error.

Testimonial: "Thanks, but I had Goodyear check alignment about a year ago and it was within speckes. Of course that was about 2000 miles before the new tires. I have not hit anything to need a realignment."

    What are the exact codes

  • DL SHELLEY Mar 16, 2016

I personally did not check for codes, but I found another Equinox owner that had the same problem.
He had his SUV tested for this problem and got the codes PO403 and P0405. He also had a UTUBE video on replacing it. My out of pocked was about $80 bucks and 30 mins.

Why does Stabilitrak Off fault light come on when trying to pass a car?

I have a 2008 model. I am assuming the stabilitrak button(on my SUV) located next to the geer shift is turning the stabilitrak system
on and off OK? If not maybe just this switch is bad?
Unfortunately my stabilitrak alarm indicator has started coming on
periodically too. Mine seems to get reset after driving it for some
time then stopping and restarting after several short trips. I'm not
sure if mine is a real issue if it goes away after a while of driving.
The last time my "check engine" light came on also. When the
traction control alarm went away, so did the check engine alarm.
Good luck.

What does service traction control mean

I had this alarm on my 2008 Equinox. I did not have it code scanned, but I found on the internet that a code P0403 or P0405 could suggest a faulty EGR .
I took a chance and replaced it for about $80 bucks and 30 mins. time and it corrected my problem so far.
I think Autozone will run a code scan on your SUV for free and they might suggest something else.

Stability trak and check engine light coming on in my 2007 chevy equinox

Traction control uses the engine along with other components, so if the engine is not working correctly the traction control system can be disabled too.
You would need to get the computer scanned for codes to proceed.

2007 chevy equinox has problems with stabilock and traction control lights coming on after I had the spark plugs changed

Changing the sparkplugs has nothing to do with these lights, the trac control and stabilock would not be affected with just replacing sparkplugs, i assume the check engine light is not on since theres no mention of it , if the engine light were to be on then there may be a connection, the computer will turn off these systems if it turns on the check engine light for any reason, when the engine is not running as its suppose to the computer shuts down these systems because they can not operate correctly with a engine light on.

My 2008 Equinox's traction control light came on the other day, by itself and said it needed to be serviced. In 2 days, it left. Yesterday, during snow, I pressed it on, and the car started to jump a...

The traction control light usually goes on when a wheel speed sensor is not sending valid speed signals to the traction control module, or the module itself is bad.

Modules can cost hundreds of dollars, or the wheel hub assemblies replaced to rectify a basd wheel speed sensor can also cost in the hundreds of dollars, unfortunately.

If it jumps a little in the snow, and the traction control light was off (indicating it was working correctly at the time), I wouldn't worry too much about it, as the traction control may be working properly at that time.

Was the jumping alarming making the car 'buck?'

The wheels may have been getting traction intermittently by hitting gravel or the road that didn't have snow and ice on it. This is normal.

However, if the bucking continues, I would have it checked out at the dealer if feasible.

Hope this helps and good luck on this repair.

T/c popped up on my dash this mornng

No T/C stands for traction control all it does is keep your back tires from spinning on wet surfaces. I turn my off. All it does is slow the motor down so your wheels if they are spinning they can get traction.
