Aaron, there has been a few problems with head gaskets, the bigger problem was with the intake manifold gaskets.

SOURCE: Need to know roughly how long it would take to

Depends on your level of experience, quality of your tools and whether or not you have any frozen head bolts. The valve assembly and head come off as one unit on those. To clear the wires, emmision controls ect off of the top of the valve cover 30 minutes. remove valve cover 5 minutes (too scrape off excess gasket material. to remove exhaust manifold from side of head, (assuming no broken/stuck/stripped bolts 15 minutes with good hydraulic tools. To remove head (assuming all goes well and hydraulic tools, 15 minutes. To reassemble, double all times as surfaces need to be prepped and gaskets applied and proper torque on all bolts. It's an afternoon job if you ahve everything you need and nothing goes wrong. Typically add at least two or three hours of drilling and cursing to a head gasket replacement. and a trip for new drill bits and a tap (not beer) for the new hole you drilled.

SOURCE: are the 3.7 liter jeep liberty known for head

any vehicle can have any component fail at anytime. The only way to know is to have it inspected for the correct diagnosis if your experiencing problems. If you want a second opinion because you don't trust the first one then your only going to get that at a repair shop.

1999 pontiac grand am gt coupe needs a new head gasket is it worth buying the car for 1500 and getting it fixed

That would depend on the overall condition of the vehicle. Personally, I wouldn't buy a vehicle that I didn't know that the engine wasn't running because I could not check it out completely before giving them my money.

My 1997 Buick Century has been over-heating and running rough for a couple of weeks. I had to keep filling my coolant reservoir every 2 or 3 days. I just had a hunch and checked my dipstick and it's very...

Sounds like a blown head gasket. The head could also be cracked. If the engine hasnt been badly overheated to the point wherethe bore and rings have glazed it should be ok to replace the gasket. the head should be resurfaced and pressure tested before it is refitted. If it is a high milage engine that is burning oil I would sugest replacing the engine or if the car isnt in cood general shape selling it as is as spending large amounts of money on an engine in poor condition would be pointless.

Most likely a blown intake gasket. Could also be a bad head gasket.Engine will have a mild to severe miss if head gasket is bad.The 3.1 engines are known for this,

If this car needs head gasket is it worth buying

A head gasket repair is major work, not worth it unless the car is really nice and dirt cheap. One side note is that if this car has the 3.1 or 3.4 liter engine they are notorious for intake gaskets leaking that will have alot of the same symptoms as a head gasket but its alot less work to repair. Good luck!
