At worse you will lose maybe a half mile or mile per gallon. The ethanol is added so that emissions are improved. Its just the government trying to clean up the air a bit more with older cars that are on the road. Ethanol (a type of alcohol) burns cleaner and more completely than regular gasoline does. So no harm, and the drop in mileage is so small on a vehicle like yours I doubt you'll ever even notice it.

Is E-15 gas safe for cars

This is a tricky answer. E 15 is a higher ethanol gasoline mixture and seeing as ethanol is semi corrosive it is highly dependent on your car. Most cars manufactured after 2007 are in the clear but there is no certain answer unless the manufacturer gives the green light. I have attached a great article detailing e-15 but I would recommend calling your local dealership, and asking them if your model is e-15 ready.

What kind od gas does my 2002 ford taurus take no ethanol or ethanol?

The government mandated 10% ethanol in all gasoline fuel sold for automobiles, so You have to use ethanol blended fuel just about everywhere. That blend is suppose to go up to 15% shortly.

I have a 1999 Chevy Prizm Lsi with 1.8 litre engine. I live in Finland and the car was originally exported from the US. Earlier I used 95 octane gasoline that was a standard gasoline in Finland like 85 is...

Are you sure of the ratio? Here in the states E-85 means 85% Ethanol and 15% gasoline.
If that is the case, and your mix is 95% Ethanol You will have hard start when cold, less power and the check engine light will stay on. I have been running E-85 on my gasoline vehicles here for the last 5 years. I have had no other problems.

2001 Pontiac Sunfire. Engine Warning light comes ...

When the light is on you need to pull the OBD codes with a code reader or go to an autopart store and have them do it. With that in mind ethanol changes the exhaust coming out of the engine, the ethanol causes the oxygen to be higher in the exhaust than is expected and the light comes on. You should have the codes checked to be sure. However there is no damage coming from this light, if that is the cause.

How much alcohol (% in 87 octane gasoline) can I run in my 1998 Dodge Caravan without installing a conversion kit and without causing harm to the 3.3L engine with automatic tranny. It has 185000 miles and...

The standard 10% ethanol will not cause any harm. Do NOT use E-85 or any more than 15% or you may have problems.

Note: 85 Flex fuel is 85% Ethanol and if you dilute it with 75% gasoline you get somewhere around 21% ethanol. That is a little higher than I would go, but it may not hurt anything. MPG will suffer as you increase the ethanol percentage.

2002 dia rio getting 17mpg on e10 (ethanol) fuel. what can i do to improve gas mileage?

Ethanol less energy than gasoline. So your fuel mileage will be less. Also if your engine wasn't engineered to run on you could damage the engine.

Premium 91 or 95

Hello Joshdhorz,

The best fuel you can use on your vehicle is any octane that contains at max 10% ethanol.

Ethanol is an alcohol-based fuel additive made by fermenting and distilling crops that have been broken down into simple sugars.

A 10% blend of ethanol and gasoline will not harm any engine or fuel system component. However, the ethanol has a cleaning effect that will remove rust and other junk from the fuel system. This necessitates frequent fuel filter changes until the fuel system is cleaned out.

Most gas stations in our area are set like so:

87 octane (Up to 10% ethanol)
89 octane (Up to 5% ethanol)
91 octane (No ethanol)

Now we do not have 93 or 95 octane available to us here, so I am currently unsure as to what is in 95 octane fuels. In my opinion, I would use 91 octane (No ethanol) for the majority, while adding 87 or 89 octane (5-10% ethanol) ever so often to clean the lines.

I hope this helps you out,

Shadow

Also if you would not mind taking a moment out of your day and rating my solution it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

E85 conversion kit for 2006 focus and 2007 4 cylinder Ranger?

A gasoline/ethanol mixture containing 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. The number after the E is the percent of the mixture that is ethanol. So E10 is 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline. Ethanol, of course, is the type of alcohol in beer and fun drinks. Jeff
