How to repair

i'd think that the vent adjuster knob/slider is not working correctly strip out the heater panel around the control knobs and check the vent direction is working properly either stiff operation so a little wd40 on the cable would probably do the trick or some thing causing the vent itself to not move

most of these are plastic and gum up over time..unless the cams in the back of it are already broken..try a touch of wd40 (lubricant spray) around and under the knob and see if it may be stuck..DO NOT FORCE COLD AS YOU MAY BREAK THE KNOB MOUNT if its really cold outside and you cant get it to work..buy a 12 volt fan that plugs into a cigarette socket and aim it at the windshield as a backup blower..walmart has these for 12-14 bucks and they will help keep the window clear...as long as the vents put out heat..most of the vacuum baffle controls are behind the glove box..under the dash..might need to experiment with the different controls to find the right one and stick it open..good luck..

Only one dash vent in my 1999 Grand prix is blowing out air. It's cold air, and warm air is blowing out of the floor vents, and nothing changes with the knob is turned, (bi-layer, dash, defrost etc..)...

It soounds like some of the ducting came loose, maybe under the dash. maybe elsewhere.
Check the connections on the back of the air control section.

The heat only come out the vents. I turn knob to defrost or floor and it does nothing it just stays on the vents

the selector knob or lever uses vacuum from the engine to open and close the doors that direct the air throughout your dash. check for vacuum leaks.

If I am reading correctly you are hearing the vent doors moving to redirect the airflow to the vents you choose. This is normal and can be more noticeable if the blower fan is on, putting air pressure against the doors.

A/C blows from defrost and floor vents, nothing from dash vents.

the switch where you turn it to blowing at your head is probably out. you will need to replace the switch control where your defrost, foot, head etc. what make, model, year is your vehicle?

Cannot get heat out of floor vents -only defrost and dash heat

i had a simmiler problem on my 95 chevy pick up. on mine it would not chg. from floor to defrost, no matter where i put the selector. with mine it was the controls. if you go under solutions for k1500chevy gmc trucks it should tell you what your problem is, or give you an idea whats going on with yours.
