Batteries will self discharge over a period of time especially in cold weather
however 3 batteries replaced in 6 months raises issues
first question is why would they not charge up on a charger or a run in the vehicle
second question is the battery of sufficient size to run the electronics
have you had the alternator bench tested to check for correct out put, regulator operation and rectifier problems
check drive belt condition and tension
the wire could be a ground wire but I would think that if it is significant then something would not be working correctly

I had a warranty on the battery from advance auto so i took them in and they replaced them but now they dont want to replace them since i have went through 3 of them in a short period ..i did buy the best battery that they offer ..i have not had the alternator checked but i will do that next (thanks) ..i did not know the drive belt condition and tension could cause this how can this be checked? ..thanks for all the info!

drive belts ( i suspect yours will be a serpentine belt or multi grooved) go hard over time and develop cracks across the grooves
The hardness of the belt lowers the ability to grip on the pulleys and so tend to slip under load
the tension should be checked by apply pressure to the longest section between pulleys and a deflection of around 1/4" or less indicates a proper adjustment
It takes considerable power to drive an alternator under full charge so if the belt is not in good condition then the full charge need to keep the electronics operational and to recharge the battery is not reached and so the battery will be depleted
On the other end of the scale if the alternator is producing more than the required 14.5-14.8 volts , it will boil a battery and cause plate damage requiring a replacement battery
You state that you haven't had the alternator tested ( bench test is the best ) so it is very possible that the alternator and /or regulator is faulty and that is causing your battery failure rate to be so high

My 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee (4.7)is stuck in 3rd gear. It starts in 3rd & stays it wont shift & feels like it wants to die but once it gets going it seems ok, but stays in 3rd gear.

You can get some information on this link: https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/stuck-on-3rd-gear.9941/
Also get yourself a tester. I bought a 'BlueDriver'. It's blue tooth enabled so you can plug it into your car and run the test from your iPhone or others. You can also clear all the codes. Your Jeep s/b new enough that it'd work; worked on my '04 Ion.

After sitting for several months, 2003 Infiniti QX4 battery dead. Charged, started, but when you put it in gear, it dies.

First you wanna know where this problem is coming from. 1,check battery to make sure the cells are holding the change, if not then you need new battery
If battery is good then something from the car is draining battery.
Could be alternator, could be your stereo , ????

My brand new alternator wont stay charged

Check the charging relay if working. You can find it in the fuse box which is either in the engine compartment or under the dashboard on the drivers side legroom.

96 JGC with new battery if I let it sit for more than 3 days the battery will die and it wont start.

if you bought a good battery and not just a cheap battery, after you have it charged and your done driving it,turn it off and exit the vehicle, but stay there and make sure the dome lights turn off they are on a timer,if they don't turn off you'll need that replaced.

Charging system wont charge. i put a new alternator on and its still not working. thinking a bad wire some where or something but not sure

Check/test all charging system components. Have battery tested; check cables for good connection and corrosion; check belt for looseness or cracks; even if you just bought a new alternator, it could still be bad. There are alot of shops and parts stores that will check your charging system for free.
If it's discharging when vehicle is just sitting, probably a bad ground or loose wire somewhere.

Starting problem

You have a battery problem the battery needs to be replaced. Some of the cells may be bad. Water getting on battery should not affect battery's performance. Here is some advice take your vehicle or the battery to an Auto-Zone and the can do a load test on your battery to make sure it bad. If you can take the vehicle with the battery in then they can do a complete charging system check and make sure that your alternator is working fine. Good Luck contact me if you need more help.
