If it's a manufacturer installed sunroof, it should have a crank (like a window crank) somewhere, glove box, tool kit
etc. and a concealed mechanism somewhere in the headliner with an access point near the front of the panel. If it's not a factory roof, you will have to take it to an interior trim shop that has knowledge of sunroofs and let them disconnect the operating cable and slide it closed.

if you have an allan key there is a bypass to close it manually, there is an access panel under sunroof motor, take off and it will expose a allen key hole

2003 bmw 530i sunroof wont tilt or open but i here the motor

If it is not moving but the motor is running then the gears are stripped or the cable is broken . Have it fixed and if you still hate the car then sell it ( you will get more money if the roof works properly)

hi sorry but this defiantly will have to be done by the bmw garage, it is not a quick fix as this is integrated into the sunroof mechanics and needs to be done correctly...sorry not much help

Floor mats soaked on passenger floor

IF you are leaking from the sunroof in the front passenger side, you can remove the A-pillar cover next to the windshield (right side from inside of car) with a hex wretch, which is under the little plastic cover) and make sure the tube connecting the sunroof rain drain on top is not kinked or broken or not connected. Simply pour some water slowly down the drain on top with the sunroof open to test it. My was "somehow"kinked and I was able to fix it. There is also a NHTSA service bulletin #SI-B51-30-08 for 2003 BMW X5. If the tubing is not the problem, I would call BMW dealer and see if they fix the problem because of the "recall". Good Luck!

Make sure nobody plays with the car key after you lock it because if anybody push the unlocking button on your key remote it will unlock the car and if they push and hold it long enough it will open the windows and sunroof

1982 320i bmw sunroof crank

Hi Beemer Lover!

I too love the Beems, have had 1600's, 2002's, a 2002tii(!!!), 320's, and even had a gray market 635 (WOW!).

I believe the sunroof crank attaches like the window cranks... that is there is an outside covering over a metal crank arm that can be pulled away from the metal exposing a hole where an attachment screw fits through it into the sunroof crank splined shaft center.
