SOURCE: brake lights/rear turn signals

I had the same problem with my 1999 Yukon. The electric board needed to be replaced. Rust starts to build up and shorts out or blows the bulb. The dealership charged $73.60 for the part and I installed it myself (Saved $30).

The right brake light sensor is located in the trunk area by the right rear taillight assembly.

2004 chrysler sebring. my break lights don't come on when i hit the break pedal.

There is a brake light switch on the pedal inside the cabin of the car, if this switch is bad your lights will not work, also I'm fairly confident that the Sebring has a seperate fuse for the brake lights, check your fuse panels also

My cadillac cts 04 the break lights wont turn off. i already changed the break light switch im thinking its the fuse. wats the name of this fuse and were do i find it? any help is good thank you

Hello. Under your brake pedal is a switch with a plunger on, that activates your lights when depressed. Just follow up along the pedal and you will see (probably) a white switch. It sounds like the plunger switch is stuck in. These are quite cheap to replace and you might be able to prise the plunger switch out to turn the brake lights off. If it was a fuse it would not work. Can you leave feedback if this helps. Thanks

Break lights not working changed bulb and fuse. break lights still not working

Hello tmatthews39
A bad brake light switch will cause this problem. The switch is located under the dash, at the top of
the brake pedal. You can check it with a 12V test light, there should be a constant 12V into the
switch on one side and 12V out on the other when the brake is applied. Hope this is helpful.

Brake lights not working change fuses,

There should be a switch under the brake pedal. This should opearate the brake lights. It is also not impossible for both the brakelight lightbulbs to blow at the same time.

Sometimes a trunklid slamming can break the filaments. Check the switch under the brake pedal first and remember to look at the backwindow light to see if it is working. The brake pedal switch is simple to install. The rear window light may work if the tailight wires are unplugged.

Rear brake light are not working checked fuse under hood and passenger side dash could not find fuse by brake pedal

It could possibly be the actual switch that sits behind the break pedal. When the break pedal depresses or presses into the switch, the break lights go on or off. Not sure how much they run, but really easy to change. You could also check the switch with an ohm meter if available by making sure it breaks or runs continuity through the terminals when the switch is pressed/released. Hope this helps. Good luck!

How do i find the brake light fuse on my 2003 jeep grand cherokee? fuse 19 under the dashboard is antilock brakes. Is that the correct fuse?

That's for the abs system only, not the brake lights. All brake lights are not working? Check the brake light switch (aka stop light switch), which is attached to the upper brake pedal, and has a wire attached to it. If it's shot, the brake lights won't work. If this is not the problem, let me know so I can help further.
