Hi guys I have a 09 f150 I replaced the combination switch for the wiper system and the wiper motor and I'm not getting any wipers. Checked all the grounds and fuses and can't find an issue can anyone please help?
It sounds like you live in a climate were snow and ice occurs. If so a lot of people leave their wipers on upon shutting off their cars. If you happen to do that and the windsheild had moister on it or if the snow starter falling while your vehicle was still warm it will freeze. The larger the snow amount the stronger the force will be if you start your vehicle up the next morning with your wipers buried in frozen ice & snow. Since the wipers were not shut off the wiper motor will run and the wiper blades will not. This will strip the linkage the wiper arms press onto leaving you with out working windsheild wipers
Most likely the wiper motor,when it stops working,bump the wiper motor to see if it will start working,if it does,the wiper motor is bad,it does not always work,bumping the wiper motor,but if it does not,then check to see if it is getting voltage to the wiper motor,and if it is,the wiper motor needs replacing.
replacing the front wiper motor on the early L series is not difficult. search around in fixya and you will find my instructions somewhere at least twice. do not buy a replacement wiper motor from saturn, they are much cheaper through advance or autozone.
before you begin the repair, make sure your wiper switch is off and note the wipers off position of the crank arm as stamped onto the wiper mount. this will make sense after you have the assembly out of the car and are replacing the wiper motor. if you ignore that mark then the wipers will be in the wrong position all the time.
You have two problems. The first is the wipers turn off and stay in the upright position and do not close. The motor is fine. There is a steal 'close' tab that has been bent out of position. You just need to push the steal tab back into position. You can use a chisel or screwdriver to pound it back into the 90 degree position.
The windsheild washer motor probably needs to be replaced
