Clears up when you shutdown car and restart
2010 Jeep Liberty suddenly started idling very rough. CEL showed misfire on CYL 4 and Coil A Secondary fault. Replaced coil pack. Problem remained. Always idles very rough. Usually runs okay at cruising speed after engine is warmed up, and if rapid misfires begin to occur (causing CEL to blink), stopping and shutting down and restarting engine will usually allow it to run relatively smoothly again for a while at cruising speed. Dealership checked coils, plugs, wires, fuel injectors, compression. Found CYL 4 compression low. Recommended new engine. The Jeep 3.7L engine is well known for serious issues with valves/cylinder heads. Not worth repairing, since there are so many other reliability issues with the vehicle aside from engine problems.
Common problems that I have experienced with this vehicle include power window failures, radio failure, heater mix door actuator failure, brake control module failure, water leaks on rear hatch, etc., etc., etc.
My advice: Do not purchase a Jeep product, and if you must, buy it new and sell it before 3 years/50,000 miles, so as to let it become someone else's problem.
