You need to check it for spark and fuel and go from there. If you have questions on how to test let me know. Don't start throwing away money in parts for it.

SOURCE: Dies after running about 2 minutes

It's got all the symptoms of a leak in the fuel line. You may want to start backward at the tank and work your way all the way to the carb to find it but it would be surprising if it was something else. All the best.

SOURCE: truck starts and you can

It sure sounds like a bad Thick Film Ignition (TFI) module to me. (Also called Ignition Control Module) It mounts to the side of the distributor. You need a special socket to get the screws out of it. The socket and the module should cost less than $50 at most retail parts stores.

My daughters 2000 corolla just died while driving home. we have a new battery and air filter. i cleaned the MAF sensor changed the spark plug wires and plugs. Granted the car has 154,000 miles, but she...

You may have a bad alternator. Car died while driving, either gas or fire. if you know about MAFS your should know how to check starter function by jumping solenoid to large post of battery. Check for 12V at the large post on starter. Then try to jump the two connections. If car cranks, I would check ignition circuit for faults.

My 97 intrepid will start up, but putter out within seconds

Map Sensor or Crank Sensor. If you have a code reader the map sensor should throw a code, the crank sensor most often will not. Both will cause the car to start, idle to around 1,000 R's and then die.

Not the alternator, but a fuel pump or fuel filter could be the problem. BUT it depends on the indications. A fuel starvation problem would act like it was lunging and then dieing out before it died. If it just dies out suddenly, then I would suspect an electrical problem like a coil pack or cap.

My 2000 Tahoe will not crank unless you have over 1/4 tank of gas, last week it started dying while driving down the road, After 100 miles it died and then got more frequent and now dies after a mile. It...

Try replacing the fuel filter first and the primary fuel filter screen in the fuel pump may be dirty also. As for the the one in the gas tank which is a part of the fuel pump, your just going to have to keep the gas tank half full and add some fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank for the next feet fill ups. As for the fuel filter along the frame rail on the drivers side, they have a life of 30,000 miles or 1 year and needs to be replaced within those recommended intervals. Good luck and hope this helps, Note: the gas is what keeps the fuel pump cool, so low fuel in the gad tank will have the fuel pump run hotter causing it to fail prematurely

Car had ignition coil replaced for 2nd time in a year

The crank sensor is causing the car to die. When it gets hot the resistance builds up and it will not read the crank signal. Then the car will die. When it cool the sensor will read again. You wont get spark if the crank sensor is not reading the ecm doesnt see the signal and will not allow the coil to fire.

Chevy tahoe shuts off when driving

i am on here because of an issue i am currently having with a 2004 tahoe, but after reading some the other problems people are having i will let you in on a previous experience i had with a 2002 chevy truck. my previous vehicle was a 02 chevy 2500hd with the 8.1 and the problem started on day when suddenly it shut off. it did restart with no problem. i never had that problem again until a month later and 1500 miles away when i went to texas to visit my sister. this time it took nearly 30 mins before it would restart. it would crank over fine but no fire. then suddenly out of no where it would fire up like nothing ever happened. so anyways to make a long story short i visited two different gm service centers, they did tune ups and diagnostics, and handed me the bills for over 500 dollars and told me that should do it. yea right the problem continued and then i searched online and one item that kept coming up was the crank position sensor. after reading what those people were dealing with i gave it a shot. went to the dealer bought a new sensor ($99) took an hour to install it and i never had the problem again. one last thing im gonna add. i had a friend that drove a late 90s or early 2000s grad prix, she was having the same problem and had her car in and out of the shop and never got it resolved, i told her to have them check the crank position sensor and bingo, she never had the problem again.
