The mode door may be stuck or broken.

I just came from the dealership and they told me that the part is about $50.00, but I was wondering is, does anyone know how much this will cost in labour???

According to how the part is located as to the labor hours involved. Removing the entire dash on some vehicles can be an 8 hour job. I would check independent garages first.

How do I get the windshield & the windows defrosted? What buttons do I press?

Does your heater fan turn on? If not, could be a fuse, could be fan motor, could be wiring connections. If heater fan works then defroster switch may be the problem, or connections to the switch, or again a fuse. Temperature controls may have some effect. Usually, defrost needs heat to work well. The engine needs to warm up.

How do I fix the defrost on the my Mitsubishi Galant? It wont change blower directions in order to go to defrost.

Need your model and year, please. The mode switch is usually operated by vacuum. The control panel mode switch receives vacuum supply from the intake manifold and distributes to the actuator doors as commanded by the control switch. If the vacuum supply is disconnected or leaking, the system defaults to one mode--which is usually defrost, but depends on the design. I can provide more details if you reply with model and year.

There is a clicking sound when I turn my ac control from hot to cold!

That is natural. It is the clutch engaging on your A/C compressor. You will also notice this sound when you turn on the windshield defrost.

I have a 2000 Lincoln LS. I replaced the motor over a year ago. I had to take my car back to the garage after having the motor replaces because I had no heat or air. Come to find out, they never hooked it...

Sounds like a faulty mode door actuator for the a/c in the dash. There are a series of mode doors that controls air temperature and air flow. They are located in the passenger side of the dash. If the temperature mode door isn't closing all the way then when you could still be getting heated air from the heater core when on A/C. The blowing only out of the defrost is a textbook sign of a bad mode door actuator.

02 envoy - "A/C on" indicator (front defrost) causes power loss.

the a/c will always turn on with defrost so the hot air wont crack a cold windshield.it sounds like altenator not keeping up. have it tested.if the engine realy boogs down with the a/c turned on the a/c compressor might be bad.(locking up)
